"Marie Keeling," The announcements went off. "Please see Dr. Nick Skyler in his office."

I marched my way to his office. I was being called by Nick Skyler to do something? What could my next case be? Was there a criminal on the loose? Did one of our test subjects escape? I walked through the crowded halls of our agency. When I first joined, the place wasn't nearly as crazy as I thought it was going to be. In fact, only about half of the agents arrived that day.

I was told it was for security purposes, but wouldn't it be better if more agents were around? Let's say if something horrible happened such as a shooting within the building. It would be better if more agents were here, so we would have more witnesses, more phone calls to our police department, and more protection in general.

I finally reached Skyler's office. I looked at my reflection in the door's glass window that was covered by some sort of curtain. I fixed up my blonde hair so the bun was tight and no strands were falling out. I made sure my red lipstick wasn't smudged anywhere, and I even made sure my cleavage wasn't showing too much.

Skyler has a very strict persona, but I was told he was very strange with his attitude. No matter what, you always needed to be on task. Most of us had to either look like you were always on task and tidy, or you just had to act it out. If you had the ability to do both, you were one of his favorites. I tried to always be one of his best agents, but it was extremely difficult to do so.

Just a few days ago, his number one agent was removed from the top ten for working on a software outside of his cubicle. For a fact, I've never seen a scientist who is more neat or as organized than he is. He's almost inhuman, that's just how formal he seems.

I entered the room, taking in the scent of the strong cologne that filled the air. It smelled like a mix fern trees, as I've heard is his natural scent, and Old Spice. It was odd to know what he liked, yes, but you hear many rumors and facts about this place. After all, most of us are spies. It's not too hard to get information on people.

Anyways, his office had dark oak walls, with bookshelves of the same shade full of previous captures, and old newspapers on viruses and diseases lay stacked on top. The carpet of the place was a cherry red, and in the center of the entire room was a large desk with two chairs on one side and another just across from them.

Standing at the large window, looking at the forest beyond, was none other than Nick Skyler himself.

"Marie Keeling," he said while smoking his cigarette. "It's very nice to see you."

"As with you," I replied, sitting down. "Now, what is it you wished to speak to me about?"

"As of late, I have been told of some odd emails appearing in agents' inboxes," he said, turning to look at me.

This gave me the opportunity to see his face- which he didn't show very often. His face cut was very sharp, and his skin was a peach color. He had dark green eyes that pierced into my blue ones, but his dark red hair was keeping my fear of his sight by going slightly over them. He was wearing a dark blue suit with a red tie, and his pants were the same color with black shoes to go along.

"W-what do these email have within them?" I asked, trying not to stutter.

"They talk of this strange virus." He took a seat in front of me and leaned against his chair to look at me. "Now, we don't know if it speaks of a computer virus or a flu virus, but it is most likely a computer virus- seeing how the emails always have some kind of link."

"Is there at least a small bit of evidence that it could be a flu virus?"

"As of now, no." He puffed a cloud of smoke towards me. "Which is why I'm sending you to research about it."

"M-me?" I blurted

He chuckled at my response. "Yes, you. It's a reason the announcements called you out."

"O-oh, uh, I'm sorry. I've just... never been told by you to do something."

"Well, today's your lucky day." He got up, with me following, and he opened his door to let me out. "I suggest you start by taking a look at Audrey's inbox first. She's been getting the most emails recently."

I nodded and was starting to head out when Skyler stopped me.

"Yes sir?" I said.

"Have you been slacking off?" he asked.

"What makes you think that?"

"Your hair is... a bit messy."

My eyes widened as I looked at myself in the door's window. What was he talking about? I didn't even have a single strange loose. It was his deep laughter that caught me off guard.

"I don't mean to be rude.... but what is messy about my hair?"

"I just like to tease you agents," he answered. "Just to get you all a bit less stressed. Don't tell anyone that I do so, alright?"

"Uh... okay...?" I hesitated. "I'll... be off now."

"Take care, Marie."

As he closed his door behind me, I wondered something I never wondered before. Was he hitting on me, or was he being truthful about teasing the agents like that?
