"What is going on here?" were the first words that Uriel said to his brother. "You just got back and you are already at Chris' throat" he chuckled.

Michael's serious expression immediately melted at the sight of his most beloved brother. Uriel walked over and gave Michael a hug.

"You look great for someone who has just returned from war." even though there was a hint of amusement in his tone, I couldn't help but notice they way he examined Michael. Like me, he had to make sure that there wasn't a scratch on Michael.

"The job was easy. I wouldn't even call it a war. It was just a small clan that were too captivated by the notion of tyranny. They were a young race, so seemingly they were stubborn, which was why it took so long for us to return."

"If the clan were so stubborn, then how were they an easy job? You can't easily handle something that is stubborn." I was curious, I really was. Michael was never one to indulge in the details of the wars that he had participated in. As I have grown older, my curiosity to know about the different races didn't dampen, it become something I couldn't ignore. It felt like a constant parasite that kept gnawing at my brains. Uriel has become my confidant these last couple of months, the only one that was happy to entertain my inquisitive imagination. I have often wondered, if I was allowed to travel and mingle with other races around the universe, would I still lead this simple mundane life or would it be filled with the vibrant colours of various cultures.

I gave my head a gentle shake to get foolish thoughts out of my head. Michael is my sire, I was the only heir to his lineage, I can't have this silly thoughts tainting my mind if I were to someday join the council.

"I asked for an audience with the leader to which I was ungracefully declined. So I did what was promised to them if I were to be declined." Great, just flipping great. The first time Michael has said anything in front of me and I just spaced out.

"There was no other way?" Chris finally spoke up forgetting his previous stare down with Michael. I knew it was just a facade, the bravado, Chris had tremendous respect for my brother.

"No, there was not. If I had left without dissolving the issue, the mad leader would have brought his entire race to an end and that was something I could not let happen."

Both Uriel and Chris nodded in understanding.

Chris cleared his throat "So shall we, this is urgent Michael. You can come too Uriel" I stared at Chris in shock. I think my jaw hit the floor and I might have swallowed a couple of flies. I stared in disbelief as Michael finally motioned for Chris to follow him. I watched as the three men made their way around a few of the angels that were still lingering around.

How dare did he not let me tag along? Fury filled my veins and I was seething. My body stayed pinned to the ground as the waves of anger washed over me. One thing was sure though, Chris was not allowed in my bed that night, whether he wanted to be in it or not.

I stood on my tip toes trying to catch a glimpse of them moving through the crowd but they were already out of my sight. Where would I find them in this huge castle? Instinct told me to look in the library, Uriel would never be caught dead in other parts of the castle. I pumped my legs as hard as I could, I took an alternate route, hoping that I could beat them to the library. Some how I knew that Chris had asked Uriel to join in the "private meeting" so that Uriel could be the mediator, the neutraliser.

Chris was a confident angel, a confident and strong angel that was climbing up the ranks pretty fast with his skills in combat and statecraft. If he needed Uriel to be there it meant that he needed Uriel to simmer Michael down. And if Michael needed to be simmered down, Chris was going to tell Michael something that has him believing that Michael would actually try to attack him, or worst yet kill him.
