Annie was floating. Clouds of gold surrounded her as she floated through the charcoal sky. She glanced below and saw dark red trees, covered with ivory flowered vines. There was a periwinkle waterfall ascending from one of the largest clouds. She reached out towards the water, but it turned into blood. She started falling toward the ground, the ground loomed closer and closer.
Annie woke up, her entire torso falling off of the bed. She felt a bead of sweat trickle past her eyebrow. After a few seconds of readjustment, Annie ended up on her feet. She walked out of her room and into the kitchen. One of her freshman sorority sisters was sitting on the counter, eating yogurt.
"You look sick, did you get any sleep last night?"
Annie didn't bother to answer the girl she couldn't remember the name of. She grabbed a leftover piece of pizza from the fridge and headed to her room to change. She opened her still unpacked trunk, quickly changing and throwing a black hoodie over it. She was glad her roommate was gone, as she had dropped her pizza, leaving a red stain on the white fluffy rug covering the floor. After quickly checking her phone, Annie realized she was late for her Victorian Literature class. She ran out of the house, quickly waving goodbye to the freshman still sitting in the kitchen. She runs past the stereotypical students on the campus, a skateboarder, a group of girls gossiping, and a boy with headphones on, not a care in the world. She runs faster and sees a familiar tree out of the corner of her eye. She stopped to see a tree identical to the one in her dream. It was being planted on the campus. Why they were planting a full-size tree, she had no idea. She stood underneath the tree staring at the burgundy bark, white petals falling around her.
"Don't you gotta be somewhere?" asked the man planting the tree. Annie realized he was correct and ran as fast as she could. There was a soft pounding sound as her sneakers hit the pavement. She bolted into the main building, shoving people out of her way. As she bounded into the lecture hall, every head turned toward her. One boy, in particular, caught her eye, sitting as far back as possible.
"Just sit down," the professor remarks with a sigh. Of course, the only available seat was next to the boy who looked as he would do anything to get out of her class. She sat next to him; face blushing due to being incredibly embarrassed in front of her entire class. After putting her bag on the table and pulling out her computer, Annie realized this boy was staring at her.
"Hi, who are you?" She asked, attempting to be polite.
"Korban"
"I'm Annie!"
"Whatever"
After this rough exchange, Anabella finally looked in Korban's eyes. His stormy gray eyes told her he would change her life. It was him. The one. He would be the first person she would ever kill.
Annie stared deep into Korban's pupils, and could see silhouettes of someone being stabbed. No, not someone, him. She realized it had been a few seconds, and this boy was starting to look freaked out. She pulled away from their stance and wondered what had come over her. She had never had thought like this before. She realized the professor had been talking about some book, and everyone else was taking notes. She grabbed her computer and started typing. An odd pounding noise seemed to be coming from Korban. After a second she realized it was the sound of a heart beating. With each beat, Anabella saw visions of horrible things. White spots brighter than the sun freckled her vision. She grabbed her things and ran out of the room. She stood outside the generic beige doors, panting. The pounding noise had stopped. She sat on the cold linoleum, her heart about to beat out of h0er chest. She ran her fingers through her long platinum blonde hair, a nervous tendency. Annie jerked back as there was a loud bang. Korban burst through the doors and plopped down next to her.
