"(Self-harm) When your toddler gets a hold of scissors and starts running around the house, what do you do? You chase after him. Until the moment you get that sharp object from his hands you are in panic mode; ready to do whatever you have to in order to help him before he hurts himself. He doesn't realize the harm he could do to himself, but you do. When your teenager grabs a razor blade and is ready to cut, yet again, on his own body, you look the other way. You label it as attention seeking, a phase, or some other dismissive thing. Have you forgotten the harm he could do to himself with that sharp object? What happened to helping? Did it ever cross your mind that because he knows very well the harm he could do to himself and yet he is still willing to do it, may mean something is severely wrong and he needs you now more than ever? The pain one must feel inside to intentionally resort to something so painful on the outside just must be real. It is. So where are you now?"- Unknown
