‘looking on the bright side’ will give us a much better chance of living happier.
Being ready to see the future as promising rather than threatening, other people as likeable rather than not to be trusted, oneself as someone with abilities and potential rather than not very capable, problems as challenges to be overcome rather than scary crises, will all rise a person to living happier.
That is not to say that every positive perspective on ourselves and the world will be helpful. Unrealistic expectations and perceptions, self delusion, false optimism will mean a life built on sand.
The healthy, intelligent middle ground is the place to live. It is where the practical optimists hang out and live happier
