AN: Sorry it's been so long guys! I don't really have any excuses besides school.... Anyway, here's two chapters to make up for the wait. Thanks to my amazing beta Ash, and enjoy!
I shouldn't have been excited, but I was. I really was. I mean, Sophie's last four cheese pizza? That was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Well what does it say?" I asked, nearly tripping over Midas in my haste to read the email.
"I haven't read it yet." she said faintly. Then, she shook her head as if to clear her thoughts, and seemed to come back to herself. She opened the email, and we both leaned foward slightly, eyes scanning the page for an answer.
'CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU HAVE WON THE CHANCE TO HAVE ONE DIRECTION SPEND THE DAY AT YOUR HOUSE!!!'
I think my heart may have stopped for a few seconds. Or my brain short-circuited. I'm not sure which.
"You've won." I stated blandly.
"I've won."
"You've /won/."
I'VE WON!!!" Sophie exclaimed, dropping the laptop on the table and doing a sort of jig. I was quite tempted to join her.
"Congratulations darling!" said Mom, smiling.
Just then, the familiar noise of a new email was heard.
"Probably the photographer contacting me already." Sophie said smugly. She opened the email, and her face dropped.
"What is it?" I asked curiously. She didn't answer. After a moment of silence, she handed the laptop over to me.
I read the email, wondering what could have caused her mood to change so drastically.
'Dear sir/madame,
We are sorry to inform you that the official One Direction website has been hacked. Those of you that recieved an email informing you that you were the winner, we can only say that it was false, and we apologise.
However, due to this breach of security, we have decided it best to choose the winner tonight. The person will be picked at random and shall be alerted within the next five minutes.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused,
staff'
I looked up. Sophie was staring blankly at the wall in front of her, apparently still processing what just happened. Mom and Dad just looked confused.
"This means there's still a chance you could win." I offered weakly.
"Yes, I suppose you're right." she said vaguely, still staring straight ahead.
To say the next few minutes dragged by would be an understatment. I filled in our parents on what they had missed, while Sophie sat in stony silence. Even Midas didn't make a sound.
Soon it became clear that no more emails were coming. Mom and Dad kept giving eachother looks, as if daring the other to speak first. Looking at the defeated expression on Sophie's face made me remember something.
"Hey Soph, didn't you enter using my email address as well?"
"I guess." she said half-heartedly.
"Do you mind if I check, just in case?"
"Go ahead."
I grabbed the laptop and quickly signed into my account. Heart in my throat, I looked to see whether or not luck was on our side. You can imagine the expression on my face when I saw that there were not two, but three emails from the One Direction website waiting for me.
