The wind whistled through the open kitchen window. Finn stared outside, sitting on her purple dog-bed. Her teddy bear leaned over, and she nuzzled her nose to it and took a deep breath. An orange and cinnamon colored cat strutted into the room. The moon reflected off his emerald green eyes. He jumped up onto the counter-top, then the window sill. "Lionel, what are you doing?" Finn whispered. Lionel looked left and right before answering, "Into the woods with Macy." He smiled and leapt outside. Finn sat up, cocking her head at the window measuring distance. She trotted over to the counter and sprang up. Her red bandana around her neck flapped back and forth in the cool breeze. Finn stuck her head out the window and smelled all the scents. She propped her paws on the window sill and wiggled out. Finn fell to the ground in a large thump. She stood up and shook out her coat, spraying dirt everywhere. Lionel looked around before heading off into the woods. Finn rushed over to the edge of the woods, stopping abruptly. The trees loomed high above her head, the wind whistling in her ears. She crept slowly into the woods, pricking her ears. She ventured out farther and farther away from her house. She came into a clearing and sat down. Some bushes nearby rustled, and Finn caught a scent of wolf. She sat up and crouched, snarling. A white wolf with neon blue stars covering his face and tail on the sides dashed out of the bushes, running into Finn. She fell hard on her back, gasping for breath. The strangely colored wolf turned and snarled, and Finn rolled onto
her back, exposing her belly fur. The snowy wolf decided not to mess with the new creature that had entered his world, but kept his position to show that he was to be the boss. Finn sat up slowly, the other wolf eying her suspiciously. Finn slowly wagged her tail and panted a smile. The other wolf cocked his head and soon wagged his tail to.and after a while he finally woofed friendly at her. "Hi, my name's Frost. Or you could call me Jack. Or you could even call me Jack Frost if you want!" he smiled. Finn liked this wolf; he was very energetic and happy. She smiled back and wagged her tail. "Where do you live? Do you have a pack? Oh, by the way my name is Finn!" Jack bounced up and down rambling on and on and on. "I live in the forest with my pack, the neon wolves! I'm not the leader of course, and we are strangely colored but that doesn't mean we lived in labs or stuff, we were just born that way! Cool name!" Finn looked at him, and responded with, "Thanks, where do you live?" Jack shuffled his paws. "Er, I live with a pack and I'm patrolling the borders. I'll bring you to where we live tomorrow. For now we can sleep in this cave," He pointed to a small cave nearby, "Until its morning." Finn nodded and crawled into the cave, Jack right behind her. There were a couple leaves on the ground of the cave, making perfect bedding for the two. Finn curled up, tucking her tail over her nose. She gazed out at her house, wondering how her owner and Lionel would react. She might not even come back, but she might see Lionel once in a while in the woods. Jack curled close, very close to Finn. His fur was extremely cold to the touch, and she leaned over and asked quietly, "Are you cold?" He shook his head and smiled. Finn shrugged and rested her head. Jack was constantly shifting uncomfortably and his cheeks were turning a light pink. Finn looked over at him to see if he was okay, and he was staring straight back at her. Her looked away, as if we were ashamed, and pressed his fury lips against hers. Finns back hair stood on end, and widened her eyes at him. He closed his eyes, and pulled back. He looked down at the ground and Finn blushed profusely. She curled closer to Jack, hoping to keep him warm. He licked her head and curled closer too, and the two soon fell asleep.
Finn sat up and yawned, but fell back down to the ground. He sides and legs hurt and she didn't know why. She gripped her teeth as she struggled to stay standing, but fell back down again as she noticed that Jack was on top of her. She grumbled and tried to shake him off, but he seemed stuck. She kicked him off her back with her hind legs, and he fell to the floor. Her back was extremely cold and she was startled as she turned to look at her back. Her fur had little shiny crystals stuck to it, and she figured it was from Jack. She shook out her pelt, the tiny crystals scattering over the cave ground. Jack was awake now, and he was staring at Finn, smiling. She smiled back, and woofed. "So, you want to lead me to your pack now?" Jack sat up and stretched, then nodded. "It's deep in the forest, this way." He barked, pointing north. He loped forward, at a jog with Finn close behind. They ran for about five minutes and they passed a few dead deer carcasses along the way just as Jack was slowing down. There was a small clearing in the woods with tall green grass, and a heap of bushes around the rim and front. Jack walked up to the bushes, and with one paw pulled back the ferns, revealing a tunnel of thorns. Finn had to duck her head, careful not to scratch herself. She lost a few snags of fur, but other than that she wasn't bothered by the prickly plants. Even though Finn was stuck behind Jack, she could see a faint glimmer of light in front of her. Jack quickened his pace and Finn followed eagerly behind. They both suddenly emerged out into another beautiful clearing, with a waterfall nearby and a lake beneath. Birch trees surrounded the clearing and some caves were scattered around here and there. Finn noticed another important thing, there were wolves here! She was excited and nervous at the same time, and was startled as she heard someone snarl, "WHO IS THIS?" before Finn had a change to move, a white figure jumped on her, and almost crushed some of her rib cage bones.
