It was her 6th year, she had gone home to Andromeda during winter vacation. She decided to go volunteer in a muggle soup kitchen, that's where she met a young Lawrence Fletcher. The two fell instantly and madly in love. Lawrence always thought that she had just died her hair, he didn't know of the wizarding world that Tonks called home.
