9 months later, right after he was born, Tonks told Ferbs father about her world. Explaining why his hair may or may not change color. He asked why it would even so that. So she explained about being a Metamorphigis. But since he was sick it would probably always be green.
Ferb had been born with a non fatal cancer that made him feel bad without killing him.
There was no cure magically nor was there a muggle cure. So he was forever doomed with green hair. There was nothing anybody could do, except hope and pray that he would get better.
