Thinking back on the panic & screams from this place I start getting worried for him. "What if I 'stumble' in, jump out & take you with me. It's a dumb idea I know but it's worth a shot right?" I hold my paintbrush close, the bristles touches the portal door & everything opens up to me. "Woah! I didn't realize I was that close, I'm sorry. I feel pretty silly now." Takes a good look at you, "Wow you look pretty cool berry. Well I guess I should say blackberry."
Blackberry took a step back as Ink spoke. He had started to shake, but didn't want to give away his panic. If this was a chance to escape, then he didn't want to risk losing it. He laughed nervously.
"T-Thanks, I guess... Y-You don't have t-to apologize."
Blackberry considered this idea. He didn't know whether something like this would work and he was still wary, especially of Ink. Yet at the same time, without the voices yelling at him, he felt braver. He took a deep breath to calm himself down slightly. He still felt panic, but the determination overpowered it.
"O-O-Okay, let's do it."
The shaking of your voice fills me with concern but I ignore it & press on. I lean in unaware of the gravity here so once I'm far enough I fall hitting my head & dropping some things. "Ow that, hurt quite a bit." Rubbing my skull I stand up. I looked around the place with wide eyes, I picked up my brush & messed around with it making a little plot of night sky. I snap back into focus & look at you with a smile. "You ready to get out Blackberry?" I hold my hand out to him looking for some trust in me.
Blackberry flinched when Ink hit the ground. He wanted to help him out, but fear was holding him back. Instead, he watched as Ink stood up and painted. His gaze followed the brush movements with a slight confusion. When Ink was done he looked at the image with wonder - he had never seen the night sky before.
Blackberry looked up at Ink's question. He still felt a slight suspicion, but a feeling of trust overruled it. Ink hadn't done anything wrong to him, and he was trying to help him escape. After a moment's hesitation, Blackberry nervously returned the smile and took Ink's hand.
I look up at the blank white sky & closed my eyes as if i'm sharing a thought with the emptiness. I step through the door, somehow I felt better with you with me, like weight has been lifted off my back. When I think about exploring different worlds with a friend.
*IT FILLS ME WITH DETERMINATION.
Blackberry followed Ink's lead, slowly stepping through the portal. He'd closed his eyes, slightly afraid to see what it was like. When he opened them again he was immediately in awe of the sight around him and Ink. The colours felt bright and vibrant, in contrast to the harsh white of the anti-void. He looked back at the portal, and an excited smile grew on his face. It had worked. Ink had helped him to escape.
He was free.
