6. His Identity
I came as often as I could. I always come to the hospital after class. Leslie would accompany me sometimes but then she'll leave if she gets too bored. I was the only one who could stay longer with him. He seems perfectly fine and though he had a little argument with his father the other day he still kept his promise of staying at the hospital. Never have I thought of not coming. I always shared stories with him while he was gone for a bit. He was the same old Rome, I used to know back when I first met him. There has been a side that I've got to see from him these past days as I visited him. He may be bipolar some other times but then I get used to it. When his mother asked me to accompany him after my classes I kind of hesitated at first because we weren't really that close and who knows if ever that we came to like each other. I mean not like like but when I said we came to like each other what I'm trying to saying is that we did get on to each others nerves sometimes. He'd threw tantrums whenever he felt like it and all I have to do is be patient or else I could have strangled him in his sleep. Sadist, you may call me but I really just can't stand his presence some other times. But then I guess there's no harm done if ever that we tried on becoming friends right? Right now I kept looking up at the four story building, which is the hospital. Still, my feet didn't budge to move a single step even a two. I kept looking as I felt my heartbeat race faster than usual. I've been here for a couple of days and still I had this nervous feeling whenever I come to pay a visit. then finally I made up my mind and started walking in. I first came up to the desk if ever that they asked whom I'd be visiting today. But I just don't get how they keep on asking when I always do come here for a visit. I made a quick conversation with the nurse and she told me that I should wait for a while as she made a phone call to Rome. When everything's settle she told me that I could visit him already. And when I did the first thing I saw is a grumpy Rome sitting on his bed, scrunching his nose as he turned another page of his book, writing down answers in his mathematics homework. It was the homework I gave him yesterday when I came and it looks like he's answering it just now. It almost made me laugh when he grunt and then sighed after it. pulling his hair like he was getting pissed off. it wasn't like there was anything else to do in a stupid hospital. Also the way the sunlight bounced on every corner of the room made it looked brighter and more comfortable to look at. the only problem with the room is that everything was white. it must have made his mood more pissed than usual. soon he heaved an aggravated sigh, closing his book and placing it back on the desk near his bed. A few more minutes I'd be walking up to him smiling.
"Hey, How have you been?" I asked him
"It was more of like hell to me. How about you?"
That was right it would have been like hell but then hell was more uncomfortable and nothing but pain.
"You have a lot more freedom than most people here..."
Assuring him was one thing I did have in mind. Starting with a bright conversation would do in some way if ever that he might have agreed with me which he never does when he's not in the mood at all.
"It's killing me here. would you mind walking with me for a while? I think I'll die if I stay here for a couple more hours. only if it wasn't for my parents. I could have gone out...."
