He looked at the untouched tray of food and then at the lump under the white blanket.
"Jack wanna see who's here to see you?"
"Is it a new doctor." He sat up to see Ryder. They were frozen in time.
"This is Ryder. He's your brother."
He smiled and sat on the bed. The table was moved so he moved closer.
"Why should I believe that?"
"He looks like your father more than your mother like you." He was given a picture and looked from Ryder to the photo.
"It's of your parents."
"She's not your mom!"
"Yes she is. She's my guardian angel. She died because she never told me she was carrying you!"
"I want my father in here!"
"Is he staying in here?" Jackson nodded and watched as his father came in.
"Hello. I'm Keith. You can call me dad or father, daddy I really wouldn't care." Jackson grabbed onto him and squeezed his jacket.
"I wanna stay with you as long as I have left."
Ryder stood and pulled the curtain open. He slammed his hand against the wall and growled.
"Ryder that's no way to act!"
"Says the man who's attacked me countless times because he was drunk! You threaten to shoot me with your fucking tags! They don't mean anything to me! You think you're important?! I don't accept you ad family or my father!"
"You're lying!" Ryder's head flicked right to Jackson. He growled and walked with frustration. He was thrown back by his mother.
"Stop!"
He looked at Jackson and at his pale skinny boney arms. He snapped out of it and went to the door.
"What was that?"
"I don't know?" He growled under his breath and looked at Jackson and Keith.
"You gonna answer him?"
"Fuck you. And it's our mother. She won't let me hurt you. I'm fucking in pain. Going through a change because this mother fucker thinks he can sell me to the woman who made me this way."
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
"Exactly what I said!"
"Why do you hate him?"
"Jackson he's tried to hurt me. I'm his victim! I still wear his dog tags because I just can't take them off without shaking. I'm an animal that will kill. People now look at me and fear my slightest movement."
"No they don't!"
"The woman you were with was gonna die because of me. I almost fucking shot you. You need to stop being a fucking drunken fucker and shape up to be a father."
He was pulled in the man's arms. He pushed back and tried to break free but he felt Dallas again. Tears started running down his cheeks and he finally was let go to have his father see how he felt.
"Why are you crying?" He wiped them away and smiled.
"Dallas always did that."
He let go and as he did Ryder fell.
"Who's Dall-"
"Don't finish that secntence!" He looked at Ryder and grabbed his shirt pulling him up.
"Dallas is gone you hear! He's gone. You watched him leave!"
"Stop!" They looked at Jackson who made his father drop Ryder.
"Nothings wrong."
Ryder ran for the door but was soon grabbed and pinned against it.
"What's gonna happen from here?"
"I'm not gonna stop caring about Dallas. He's been my saviour from you. For god sake he's a better fucking father than you!" He got out and looked at a man covered in blood from head to toe.
"Whoa what happened to him?" His father asked standing in the doorway.
Jackson stood unsteady beside Ryder who lifted him up.
"I'm wondering who that is."
"Sit here sir." The man sat and you could see he was having a hard time breathing.
"Stay with him." Ryder put Jackson with his father and ran over.
"He can't breathe!"
"He just fell of his motorcycle it's not that bad!" He looked into a man he knew and fell back against the side of the bed.
"It is! You don't understand!" He took off his jacket slowly till he got to his red shirt.
They soon took him away then brought the two into a room.
"So how's your mom?"
"Dead."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know. I've been stuck with this little bitch."
"Fuck you!"
"Hey! There are kids here" a nurse yelled at them.
"Can you tell me your name?"
"Dallas Maverick."
Ryder tensed up and looked at the man beside him.
"What you think I'm going on a motorcycle with some bastard? That's been him the whole time."
"Where'd you get the name?"
"The Outsiders. My mother loves them. So I was named after him."
"Wow. Well I don't wanna hear that I make you sick so I should get out."
"Depends on who walks in."
They laughed and Ryder still loved his charm that was so stupid but he didn't care. He smiled and felt like they were kids again.
