Ch 6 Solutions lead to problems…

The concert went on without a hitch. Ariel was there (on time) and her and her sisters performed perfectly. Ariel sang her song, the same one she sang to Arianna and got a standing ovation. The look on her father’s face made her own swell with tears, she had never seen him so happy. “You’ve never made me prouder than to sit here and hear you sing. You were amazing, Ariel. You sound just like our mother.” He said, hugging her and then proceeding to talk with her sisters.

She smiled and left the concert hall with the smile on her face. Cephan was waiting for her in her room. He gave her a hug and told her she sounded amazing, as usual. “Thanks, Cephan.” She said, kissing him on the cheek.

“Can I ask you a question?” Cephan said. Ariel nodded, “That song you sung, it’s what you truly want huh, a metaphor for the life you want to live?”

Ariel was stunned by his question, “I..I-yes.” She replied, defeated.

“I have an idea of how we could turn you into a human if you would like.” He replied.

She whipped her head in his direction,  “What?”

“I have a way to turn you into a human.” He repeated.

“How Cephan? Do you know how to do magic?” Magic was never allowed to be used in the kingdom, even if one knew it. The last person to use it had been her Aunt Ursula, when she had tried to take over the kingdom using black magic and had ended up being sent to the exile city, Devil’s Pier.

He looked away and didn’t reply. “No, but Ursula can.”

*Arianna's POV

As if her wedding put enough stress on her already, Eric trying to find this random mystery girl, was. Arianna didn’t now what to do. She had to find a way to tell Ariel that Eric had heard her and hoped that she would stay away for awhile. But trying to tell Eric to give up was like trying to push a thousand pound boulder off a cliff, it wouldn’t budge.

Walking into the ballroom, she saw Eric holding up hundreds of pieces of paper, “Eric!” she said, causing him to drop the stack in his hands. “What are you doing?”

“There you are, I’ve been looking all over for you. I’m going to have these distributed throughout the kingdom.” He said, handing her one of the papers. She glanced over and it and read that it was a singing contest invitation.

“Why are you holding a singing contest? Its not like you can sing or anything.” She smiled.

“Grimsby is going to hand these out throughout the kingdom to every eligible maiden. I need to find that girl who I heard singing a couple of days ago.”

“What if she’s really ugly?” Arianna replied, giggling.

“Well, hopefully she’s not.” He replied, before dashing off to find his faithful butler.

Arianna groaned, “What am I going to do?” she said.

“About what, Arianna?” her mother said. Arianna whirled around to face her.

“Eric has his heart set on marrying whoever the girl is with the most beautiful voice in the kingdom and he’s having Grimsby send these,” she showed her mother the invitation, “out to ever eligible maiden in the kingdom. I have a feeling though he’s never going to find her.

“Why don’t you go take a rest for a little bit, I know the wedding is completely stressing you out, and I’ll go talk to Eric?” Arianna nodded, grateful for the chance to rest and relax. She walked up to her room and flopped on her bed, flipping over she stared at the ceiling for what seemed like a hour when her door opened. Figuring it was her mom, she continued looking at the ceiling.
