Here I was again. Settin here in this chair waitin to give the policie men my testameant or whatever it’s called. I had been in here so many times before and I don’t get why I gots ta come back in here and once again talk to em. I wasn’t fibbin when I told them my story. Cause mama said that fibbin was a sinner’s thing. And I tell you that I, Sally J Dunnet, is no sinner. The cheifie man walked in and looked at me. He was overweight and very ugly, but I don’t tell em that. Mama said it’s rude and Sally J Dunnet isn’t rude. “Alright Miss Dunnet, tell us once again of how you saw the murder of Thomas Jennings.” He grunted. “Well… It all began on the night of last Thursday…”I began.

“It was Thursday of last week. The night was all humid and horrible, made my hair frizz right well. Mama said I looked nice for a teenie-ager my age. I smiled and politely thunked her. Walking out of my house I gots into our car and drove to the Plaza, that’s where all of them cool kids hang out.”

“Miss Dunnet. The murder please. Talk about the murder.”Chief Craven.

“Oh but I was gettin there. Now… I drove to the Plaza and met up with Jessie-J, he’s my best friend. We walked a little wayses down and met up with the other group of them cool kids. There in the middle of them was Thomas Jennings. He was laughin with em and all that stuff. Now after a couple of hours the beer and stuffs started to come out and then Jessie-J left. He said he had to take a leak, but I think he was lying cause he never came back. Now Thomas and the others began to get rowdy and move on out of the Plaza. Theys walked into the forest and then his friends began to circle round em. In the middle, Thomas stopped jokin as they suddenly started to yell at him. Then suddenly a gun came outs and shot em dead! I stayed silent cause Mama told me never to interrupt. So they then kicked him and then left em to bleed. By the time I gots there he was dead…” I finished my tale and Cheifie Craven looked bored.

That was how he always looked when I told em my story. I wasn’t fibbin, honest I wasn’t. I was a good girl who ate her veggies and tried to follow the book written by the big man up there. However he seemed to think that I was fibbin big time.

“Alright. Thank you Miss Dunnet. You may leave. We may have to call you in again but until then just go home.” He sighed. I nodded enthusiastically and he waved me outside. The night was dark like always, mama called it dark-thirty. I was walkin to my car and suddenly I heard footsteps behind me. I turned and saw a guy. I recognized him as the one who killed Thomas. He didn’t look especially pleased with me. “Hello there Sally. You didn’t tell the police about what you had seen last Thursday did you?” He asked.

I backed up. He didn’t look pleased with me at all. He began to move forward and I felt ready to cry. I wanted Mama here to save the day. However all of my hopes vanished with the sight of the gun. What was I to do when he stood there oh-so-scarily with that thing? I just plucked up my courages and then looked at him, "N-no of course not. Them policie men don't listen to lil' old me." I told em. He was pretty scary lookin. "I believe you're lying to me." He said, his voice low. I just quaked there in my ten dollar boots. I really liked these boots, they were a dark leather and very comfy. I was glad that I was goin to see god in these boots. Then suddenly I heard the door open behind me. I looked back and felt relieved to see Chief Craven there.

The guy with that gun hissed and then quickly pocketed his gun. "Sally, what are you still doing here?" Craven asked irately.

"W-well sir. I was just a chattin up this guy here for a moment. You see he's very interestin." I stuttered. Cheif Craven looked the guy over next to me and sighed, "Miss Dunnet I'm glad that your social skills are good but please don't keep Junior Detective Bates out here in the parking lot. Especially at this hour." Cheif told me.

Once again I was quakin in my boots. However this was my chance to make an escape. So I nodded to them both and then went toward my car prayin to the lord that I got there. Cause you all know that Sally J. Dunnet is a religious girl. I gots into my car and then quickly turned on my ride. I forced myself to drive slowly since I didn't wanna get pulled over in the policie station's parkin lot. However once I got outta the parkin lot I drove like a mad woman. I wasn't gonna be safe until I was home. Quickly gettin out of the car when I got to the house I then hopped up the porch steps and made my way inside. "That you Sally?" Mama called. "Yes Mama! I'm home!" I called back. Cause answering back is polite and Sally J. Dunnet is polite.

I quickly went to my room and then fell down onto my bed to sleep. I didn't sleep well though since I kept fearin that the man, Bates, was comin to get me. Then the mornin came too soon and I felt like the walkin dead. I got up and dressed and then went to go make breakfast for me and mama. Once that was done I then walked out of the house and took the car. Mama was a stay at home kinda woman and so I gots the car to drive to school and all.

Makin it to my destination I fished out my backpack and looked behind my back as I made my way into school. I was just too figity for my own good. "What's up Sally? You look a little jumpy." Jessie-J said as I walked into our first class. "Oh nothin, I'm just tired from stayin up late is all." I replied to get rid of any suspicions he mighta had. It was then that the teacher came inta the class room and began to teach.

The school day was pretty normal until I gots to my locker. Spray painted across the fronts of it was some nasty words,

'Watch your back Dunnet. Since only know know who Dunnit.'

Oh dear, that didn't sit well. Here I thought that I was gonna be alright but now... I quickly gots my books and then made my way towards my last class. If I could just survive I would be good. I would go home tonight and convince Mama that we hadta leave now and then just get out of here. I would explain everything later.

The last bell rang and I was gone. I didn't know how fast I was runnin but I was fast. I bet you I coulda beatin a Cheeta. Those things run fast right? Well I then gots to my car to find Bates sittin on the front of my car waitin. "Well Dunnet. I think that you're going on a ride." He said as he twirled his gun absentmindedly. I didn't like his tone of voice, I just couldn't figure out why...

He then grabbed my arm roughly and tossed me inta the car. I slammed against the seat and cried out while he got in the passenger seat. "Drive." He ordered and kept the gun below the dash.

I got ready to floor it like all of the hostages did on tv but he hissed and pushed that there gun into my gut. "Drive sanely!" He hissed. I didn't like this at all. I then went along with it and followed his every order. Once I was done and he stopped givin me directions I then looked around.

We were in an open space that wasn't really popular with people. This was where the nobodies came to just sit together. "W-what are we doin here?" I stuttered. "To play a game. Now out." He said. I didn't like him very much but I did what he said since Mama always said to do what elders told me cause it was polite and Sally J. Dunnet is polite.

"Now who killed Thomas Jennings?" Bates asked. I looked at him funny. Had he forgot? "You did." I said. A gun shot went off and I felt a terrible pain in my gut as I grabbed my stomach. "Wrong answer." Bates said as he kicked over my body. I looked at the sky and found myself smilin. Cause Mama always told me to smile and be in good spirits and Sally J. Dunnet is always in good spirits. "Good-bye Sally J. Dunnet." Bates whispered as he wiped down his gun and tossed it on me. I didn't whisper back since I, Sally J. Dunnet, was gone was fadin... Now no one would know who killed Thomas Jennings. They would however soon start to ask who killed Sally J. Dunnet.
