Allison had no clue which road to choose.
They say family comes first...but Ali didn't love her family as much as she loved Evan. She knew it sounded selfish and childish...but her family didn't love her...he did.
"Hey, it's Ali, obviously. Pick up when you eat the chance. I miss you. I know it's only been 4 days, but it feels like a lifetime. Love you. Call back!" Allison said while leaving Evan a voicemail after the phone had rang for 3 minutes.
He hadn't picked up the phone for a while. She had come to the conclusion that he didn't like her anymore because of her parents, even though she knew it wasn't true. He didn't answer because he didn't want her to get in trouble and thought she was better off without him, she knew it.
"Hey honey. Out to lunch later?" Mother asked Allison.
"No. I'm not really in the best mood today. "
"Why not?" Aunt Caroline pitched in.
"Someone poor might work wherever and I'm not in the mood to hear you complain," Allison gestured towards mother.
"Oh, sweetie. I won't complain this time!"
"This time? Really?" Ali said angrily.
"How about Ali and I just go out to lunch and then we can all get ice cream after?" Aunt Caroline said, proud of her idea.
"No. Mom might complain about the outfits person is wearing!"
"ALI. ENOUGH STUBBORNNESS!" Aunt Caroline shouted.Ali was surprised. Aunt Caroline was a patient, calm person. Allison stormed into her room and changed into a cute outfit.
"Where do you think you're going?" Mother said.
"Wherever I want to. I'll be back later to get all of my stuff. "
"Excuse me? What does that mean?"
"I'm moving. I have enough money in my savings to rent a house for a while and fend for myself. I'm better off."
"Woah. That's not allowed. I'm not sure what fantasy you have planned in your head, but my answer is absolutely not."
"I wasn't asking...I was telling. I'll be back in a little, well after I get my house."When Allison shut the door, she heard her mother begin to cry.
She felt guilty, but there was nothing for her in that home. No respect. No caring. No loving. Her dad was always at meeting. Her mom was always bossing around the maids in the house. Aunt Caroline was always moving. It was too much to handle.Allison opened up the door once again and her mother smiled.
"All of the maids...please come here," Allison shouted.
They all looked petrified. They thought they were in trouble. Mother always fired maids for not meeting up to her measures. If someone was dusting wrong, she'd fire them.
"I'm not firing you, I'm just setting you free. Go back home, get a job that you actually like, or don't, and I'll still pay you once a month. Got it?" Allison said.
"Thank you ma'am!" One of the maids said.
"My pleasure!"All of the maids grabbed their supplies and left without another word.
Ali looked at her mother. She was furious.
"Looks like you have some work to do, mom. There's some dust on the side of the TV."
With that, Allison went to go look at some houses.
She saw many nice ones, but they were too nice. She didn't want it to seem like she was spoiled, so she just got a cute, average home.Ali's phone started ringing and Evan's picture appeared on her phone.
"Hey. Long time no see!" Ali shouted into the phone.
"Hey beautiful. Where are you?"
"At my new house. I'm going to get my stuff at my parent's house later. They're too much to handle."
"Woah Al! That's a big step! Are you ready for that? Just to leave your family?"
"They aren't really family. They could care less about me. My mom didn't even chase after me when I walked out the door, My dad wasn't home and aunt Caroline didn't say anything. I'm ready."
"Well then..." Evan said while laughing. "Can I come over?"
"Yes, of course. We can go out to eat. My treat."
"Love you..."
"Love you more..."
"Love you most..."
