Chapter 1

Addison's POV

I looked up to the left and saw an elder man with sound proof ear muffs on his head holding a checkered flag; waving it frantically in a figure eight type motion. He was standing in a balcony sort of thing, away from the stands and directly above the finish line on the race track.

The final lap meant everything to every person in this stadium. From the participants in the race, right down to the janitors cleaning up spilt popcorn from the younger fans. When you look around during that final lap, each and every person is standing up with worry in their eyes. Unless, you're someone like me. Yeah I was nervous for my brother, but he's got this. He may not win every race but his attitude about winning or losing is all the same. Ethan grew up in the racing scene so long that he'd become accustomed to any out come that the race has to offer; nothing is left to surprise him.

If he won- then we'd celebrate just like the hundreds of times we have before. If he lost- we'd get into our RVs and have a relaxed quite night. The only time our night would alter between the two is if he crashed. It hardly happened but if it did, Rider would stay with the car and fix it up before the next race while I tend to Ethan and make sure he wasn't hurt to a hospital extent.

As the cars each made their last turn left the crowd got rowdy. I glanced over to Rider who was jumping up and down while clapping like an absolute idiot.

"Fuck yeah!" He screamed.

I looked up at the huge screen in the middle of the track to see the final shot of the cars crossing the line. Ethan got second! The driver who gotten first must of been a rookie.. I've been going to these races since I was real young watching my father do exactly what my brother is now and I haven't heard of him.

"That's it tonight race fans! Exciting nights must come to a finish but before we shut down the lights and celebrate here our your final winners! Third goes to Jason Leigh, number 34. Second- Ethan Moss, number 13. And first place; rookie Liam Payne! Number 67 took us all by surprise. Congrats gentleman! See you all next week for the qualifying race to see what top 10 cars go to Florida."

"Rider?"

"Yeah?" He yelled over all the cheers.

"Who's the rookie?" I asked, "I've never seen him before."

"Oh, thats-" Rider was cut off by a guy around my age maybe a few years older.. mid 20's maybe?

"Liam Payne. I'm his brother," the tall light haired man held out his hand to Rider first, then I. "Jon. Technically not related to him but when you're bunked with a guy for months on end in Afghanistan you become family."

He let out a chuckle, which made me warm up to him fast. His gentle smile made his buff body seem less intimidating.

We all chatted for a bit but broke off in separate ways to get ready for a night out. Jon said he'd love to meet back up at the bar 'The Brown Bottle.' Some not so nice club that had a record of fights. Rider and I agreed to go, me being the DD for the night.

My phone buzzed on the bathroom counter whilst getting ready.

From: Ethan

Going with Liv. Meet you there at 11, that ok?

To: Ethan

Of course. Great job tonight!

I groaned at his text though. Liv coming means it's going to be a rough night.. Shes crazy once the alcohol hits her system. Love the girl to death, but I'm not in the mood this evening.
