Chapter 1 ~ The Last Assignment

Alexa's POV
"This is your last assignment Alexa...Then you are free from this job and the marriage..." Zane said to me. I scoffed, "I have been working for you for 5 months now! What more could I possibly do? I have killed people from every village except for....."

I couldn't finish. He could want me to go there right? To kill them? "Ahh, there you go...Phoenix Drop, go there kill that Aaron man, bring me Aphmau and my brother and you are free as a bird..." he said sneering. Aaron.

I haven't heard that name in many months. How good it would be to see him again. The last I saw him was when I killed Ivy.... "F-fine....But you must promise no harm will come to the rest of the village...and the villagers..." I said.

I started walking out, I heard Zane say quietly "I make no promises Alexa."

5 month's earlier

After begging and pleading I finally managed to convince my mother to let me go back. I knew what I would have to do. Be Zane's Assassin. But if it mean't seeing Aaron again...I would do anything.

That was the day I became an Assassin. Little did I know, I would regret it for the rest of my life.

Present Day

Aaron's POV

Lilith was 5 years old now. Me and Aphmau told her stories of a wonderful girl who saved the village, how she was Lilith's Sister, I miss her now. More than I miss my old wife....Is that selfish? Is that okay?

I questioned myself. I prayed to Irene to see her again, that she'll be the same Alexa that I loved. Her last words were, 'I love you Aaron,' I will never forget those words. I will never forget her. Aphmau waved her hand in my face.
Snapping me back to reality. "Someone's at the gates," she said.

Alexa's POV

Finally the gates of Phoenix Drop. I had traveled for around an hour. I was tired and hungry. My problem is...They would recognize me. And also I don't look like someone you want to invite into a village.

I had a katana, blood on me and my eyes were bloodshot. Not very nice looking. I saw Aaron and Aphmau running to the gates to meet up with Dante.

I kept my head under my hood. Of course they would be the first to know. "Remove your hood," Aaron yelled down from the top of the gates. "N-no..." I squeaked out, "I don't want my identity known...You wouldn't believe it..." Aaron jumped down, and lifted the hood from my head, his other hand rested on his sword's handle.

"A-Alexa?" he asked me looking astonished. "..." I stayed quiet. "In the flesh?" I said. Aphmau had joined us, she hugged me though I tried to refuse. There was now blood on her shirt, not someone else's....mine.

I ran into some wolves on my way here. "S-sorry about the blood..." I said looking at my shirt. "Alexa, why is there blood on you?" Aaron asked me confused. "Wolves, ran into a couple on the way here." I said.

"We need to get those treated." Aphmau said sternly. Aaron hugged me, it felt good. I felt safe again. NO! Alexa focus. You need to kill him and bring Aphmau and Garroth back....That's The Last Assignment.
