Chapter 2 ~ An Explanation

Alexa's POV

"H-how is this possible? I thought you could only come back if Phoenix Drop was in trouble." Aaron said. I looked to the ground, we were walking through Phoenix Drop.

I was limping, but it wasn't noticeable. "Well....." I said, I put my hand on my arm. Me an Aaron leaned up against a wall, the usual. 'Should I tell them?' No, I won't tell them, this will only make my job easier.

I slowly pulled out my knife. Hiding it in the folds of my cloak. His back was turned away from me. How easy it would be to simply slit his throat, or stab him in the heart. I shakily put the knife to his throat.

"A-Alexa?" he choked out. I stood there for a minute, I wasn't able to move the knife, to slit his throat. Tears streamed down my face. The knife clattered as it hit the ground.

I stepped back, surveying what i just tried to do. "I-I'm s-sor-rry" I said before running off, I ran into the woods. My cloak got caught on a tree branch and I couldn't get it lose, I unclasped it and left it behind.

My head was throbbing, my feet ached, the bites stinging. I was falling apart at the seams. I had to stop to catch my breath. "Alexa?! Alexa come back!" I heard someone yell in the distance, it sounded feminine.

This has escalated way to fast, The Shadow Assassin, a tale told to me when I was young, was a story of an assassin, she was sent to kill her love. It was a tale as old as time, (Song as old as rhyme)

That tale was turning into my life. I stumbled through the woods, eventually I just...Collapsed. I fell, and my vision became blurry. I saw a figure lean down next to me and attempt to shake me, but to no avail. (Fancy Words) Slowly I lost consciousness.

Dream World

"Alexa, It's good to see you once more," a booming voice said making my throbbing head worse.

I looked around, "Where am I?" I asked the voice. It chuckled.

"I don't blame you for not recognizing your childhood home."

"Childhood home? I asked. I then in that moment pieced together who I was talking to.

"What do you want father?" I said hissing the last word. "Nothing at all dear Alexa.....Remember your assignment, and your past" he said cackling.

I slowly opened my eyes. I looked around. I saw Aaron with his head in his hands, Aphmau was trying to coax him into eating and Laurence was grumbling.

I groaned, Aaron looked at me and I swear I saw him mouth 'Thank Irene'. "Alex, where were you?!?" He asked me. I gave him the 'why do you mean?' Look. What he answered wasn't what I was expecting.
