"(Y/N) and boyfriend! We're here!" Steven sang. You were brought back into reality at mention of 'boyfriend.' You scoffed and laughed at the same time. Jokingly, of course. Bryan made a weird face from next to you.

"Date this weirdo? Yeah right." You chuckled and watched your baffled friend's hilarious reaction.

"Weirdo? You're the one who has your nose in a textbook all the time and you stay after school basically every single day!" Bryan attempted to roast you. To prove his words weren't effective, you decided to speak up.

"Hmm, that reminded me. I have to stay after school for Mr. O's class. That one math problem I can't do is bugging me. Think I'll go tomorrow," your fat math teacher who basically despised everyone in your class except you, decided to give everyone extra homework with some challenge problems since the class was being 'disruptive.' You were pissed, since you weren't a part of the ignorant chatter squad.

You smirked in satisfaction when your companion gritted his teeth in annoyance. Steven cleared his throat shyly for your attention to be brought back to him.

"So, (Y/n) and not boyfriend. Peridot is still... getting used to earth stuff. She's probably going to even seem little weird at first," you honestly couldn't care less. You had your eyes on the prize; money, "And she called you a clod when I mentioned you, I'm guessing she isn't your biggest fan." The three of you walked up the slightly creaky stairs to the young boy's home. Young Steven ran ahead to get the door for the two of you. After opening it widely, he bowed like a gentleman jokingly with a big grin. You slightly smiled and Bryan chuckled. You're a little less awkward around kids than people of your age. You were thinking about all the opportunities that would be open to you as you mindlessly walked through the doorway.

As soon as you stepped into the house and near the sofa you had to dodge a flying spoon that was heading towards your left eye. You ducked and the spoon fell behind couch. A tall lady with a pointed nose and light colored hair grabbed a figure from behind the counter on the other side of the room. She began scolding that person. Steven did too.

"Peridot!" he whined, "Be nice to our guests!"

So it was Peridot...

You reached behind the couch to retrieve the flying silverware. When you brought you hand back up you were greeted with a bent spoon. It must have been damaged when it landed.

You walked over to the group. Steven and the lady from before were still scolding Peridot, while the mini green gem claimed that it was necessary. Bryan awkwardly stood near the doorway. You finally decided to butt in.

"Hi..." you said quietly. The trio turned to face you. Peridot narrowed her eyes at you. You coughed nervously before speaking, "I'm (Y/N). I don't know if Steven told you that," You shyly made eye contact with the tall woman.

"Oh, yes. He did," the pointy nosed woman said uneasily. She didn't seem to really trust you. She probably even thought it was weird for an 18 year old to hang out with a kid, "So you already ran into Peridot I've heard," you nodded and the dorito head grumbled angrily.

"Well, that's Pearl," Steven chimed. Pearl smiled a little at the boy before heading towards a strange door with a star symbol displayed, similar to the one on Steven's tee shirt, "Well, you came here to see Peridot. Why don't we all go up to my room , watch some Crying Breakfast Friends, and talk!"

He grabbed your hand and then Peridot's hand and dragged you two up a small set of stairs. Peridot protested and you turned back to Bryan. He was halfway out the door. He noticed you looking at him.

"I think I'm going to go back to the house," he said, "I feel awkward here."

You nodded in understanding. He did practically say he wanted to play no role in your plot. You watched him go before facing Steven and the small gem. You sat down on the edge of the boy's bed and your mind blanked.
