The perimeter breach alarm sounded. By the time the Avengers got out, agents had their weapons pointed at a lone figure standing a distance from them He retracted his wings and knelt on the lawn. He clasped his hands behind his head and the agents cautiously moved towards him. He let them cuff him and he stood up. He was escorted up to the waiting team and stopped in front of them.
' Sorry, I'm late,' not in the least apologetic.
' Some things never change,' Rhodey said fondly.
' Are the cuffs necessary?' Steve asked.
' That blind faith might have worked with your friend, but it would be stupid to trust me, Captain. You don't know what is in my head,' his eyes piercing Steve's. Steve felt like his inner workings were being dissected under that gaze.
' Shall we,' Tony said nonchalantly. The guards led him to the containment floor he had built himself.
The team convened in the common area.
'I will say it. He is just gracing us with his presence. He built those cells. Even if we move him to the most secure prisons we have, he designed them. We definitely don't have the power here,' Hope said.
' I'm sorry, do we still think he is after us or something?' Johnny asked.
' You heard him and he is right. We can't trust that just because he made a step in the right direction he won't come after us. He wants to get better I think, but he knows he is far from it,' Natasha said.
' Can't we inhibit his powers somehow?'
' I am sorry, I can't let you do that to him. He did not trade one captivity for another. He chose to come here. Chose to make himself non threatening to make you comfortable. He is not seeking jailers. He wants friends. I won't let you,' Bruce spoke firmly.
' So how do we stop him from tapping into classified information?' Scott asked.
Clint scoffed.
' Stark already had his fingers on everything called classified through Jarvis and Friday. That is who he is already. Only difference is HYDRA was milking from his inherent curiosity. I at least trust that he feels no allegiance to HYDRA so I am not particularly worried about him being constantly in secure servers,'
' So what. We keep him on lockdown?' Steve asks.
' It is what he wants. So we should give it to him,' Bucky spoke up.
' How are you sure?' Sue asked.
' I know a thing or two about not trusting yourself to not hurt someone you love,'
' Pepper and me. That is his motivation. He trusts Bruce to subdue him. Knows Peter is hard to kill. And frankly I don't think he currently gives two shits about you guys,' Rhodey nodded to the ex fugitives,' and he thinks you guys can handle yourselves,' he said to Hope and the fantastic four.
' Geez. Thanks for telling me I am literally just an ant under his boot,' Scott muttered.
' Well who is the oh so smart ant that chose to get on his bad side, Scott?' Hope crooned sarcastically,' I mean if I want to squash you right now, imagine what he can think up,' she smiled sinisterly. Scott was visibly disturbed.
' Hope. Not cool. I am sorry okay. When will you stop punishing me?'
' When Hank decides to take over,' she smirked. Sue and Natasha were on the verge of laughter at the expense of the squirming man.
'Damn. Why do we surround ourselves with man eating women?' Sam asked.
'Ladies and gentlemen,' Friday chimed in,' Mr Stark said to tell you that he will personally castrate Mr Lang for Miss Van Dyne if you could just get on with determining his fate,'
' Friday, tell him that I...' Hope started to speak.
' Hope. I beg of you, don't accept that offer,' Scott squeaked rather unmanly.
' How does he know what we are discussing?' Ben asked.
' He is currently in my circuitry. He is privy to the proceedings as we speak,' Friday responded.
' Creepy much?' Johnny asked.
' Not when it concerns me personally, Storm, no,' Tony's voice sounded in place of Friday's.
' Okay. This dude is a seriously wild card,' Johnny said, his eyes wide.
