Pain stabbed through James as his eyes slowly started to slip open. His eyes darted around, he felt a small jab of happiness when he recognized his room at Bruce's mansion. He moved upward and let out a small yell as pain hit him. James relaxed back down again and looked at his body. It was covered, literally almost all the way covered with casts, wraps, stitches, and scars. The room was cold, no one was around but he could hear a radio playing next to him so the room wasn't completely silent. James let his head rest back. He was extremely uncomfortable with all his broken bones but it was better then when his bones weren't in casts. The small squeak of his door alerted him that someone was coming in the room. He didn't want to move his head around so he just asked. "Bruce?" After a couple second someone appeared in front of him. In the blue and black uniform stood Nightwing. James had a hard time making his face completely out though because of his swollen and bruised face. Nightwing shook his head. "No, it's me, Nightwing," he said "Bruce is down working on something. I can call him up real quick if you want me to..." James nodded a little bit too quickly. He wanted to see Bruce, make sure he was okay. Nightwing nodded. "I'll be right back," the older kid said and left the room. James moved his head around and to the doors, waiting for Bruce to come in. He was a little curious on how Batman had found him so quickly and saved him so easily within the short time he was there.
Soon enough Bruce opened the door and walked in, sadness clear in his eyes. Bruce came over and stood next to him. "James... I'm sorry I-" James quickly cut him off. "Hey, don't be sorry. I knew I was in danger when I took up the role of Robin. It's my fault anyways for disobeying your orders and attacking without you," he said quickly and gave Bruce a small smile. Bruce seemed to get a bit more sad when James said that. He didn't know why though. James sighed and paused before talking again. "How'd you find me so quickly?" He asked, a bit curious. Bruce seemed confused by that. "James, do you know how long you were missing?" He asked. James thought for a moment. "Not very long," the boy replied. Bruce just stared at him for a minute before sighing "James... You were gone for two days. Almost three," he said flatly. James frowned deeply, his eyes were blank as he heard that. Almost three days? What happened? Did his mind blank out most of the memories? Or did he pass out or sit there longer than he thought? Almost three days. That wasn't possible. James finally got a hold of himself again "Really?" He said "Oh.... I didn't know that. I guess I counted time wrong in my head or something," he looked down at the ground as Bruce moved closer. "James... What happened?" Bruce asked, leaning down. James thought for a moment, that was a question he didn't want Bruce to ask. But he couldn't say he didn't want to talk about it. James breathed in and told him everything... or at least everything he could remember. He told Bruce about The Red Hood, The Joker and Bane were working together, that seemed to really confuse him. Then he said about them wanting to know where the technology to break into all the banks were and how when he didn't tell them or he lied they would beat him. That seemed painful for Bruce to listen to. James then finally said how he had to finally tell them because he didn't want to get hit anymore. "I'm sorry I told them, Bruce. I really am," James finished and sighed a bit. Bruce shook his head. "Don't be sorry," he said and thought about The Red Hood... or Jason. The last Robin. Bruce hadn't told him that Jason was still alive and was the Red Hood. Still, this didn't seem right. After what happened with the Joker. Jason wouldn't be mad enough to join with him, would he? James looked at Bruce, his friend had the weirdest face. Bruce never seemed so puzzled in his life. "Bruce, what's wrong?" He asked after a minute. Bruce frowned. "That wasn't the real Red Hood," he said suddenly, James was a bit surprised. "What? How do you know?" Bruce sighed. "I haven't been entirely honest with you, James. That night when you became Robin and asked if the other Robin was dead... I lied..." Bruce began to tell James everything. Everything to Jason becoming Robin, to them fighting together then Jason getting beaten to death by The Joker then to the Red Hood situation and all. "Look James, I know Jason... or The Red Hood better than anybody else. That's. Not. Him," he replied and got the weirdest feeling. "Something's wrong," he muttered and turned on the T.V. James looked at the television as Bruce changed if to the news station.
