The girl stared across a mirror. Her strawberry blonde hair, grown long again, slipped out from behind her ear. A hand, crossed by faint scars, reached up to finger the long-gone gash on her head.
Her vision snapped back to that day. The female Titan, the awful, sickening crunch as her body hit the rough bark of the tree. A man, with firm yet gentle eyes latching onto her forearms, tucking her hair back, begging her to stay.
But it was too late.
So Petra waited for the man she loved, up in the clouds, watching as he cut and killed and bled. She endured years of seeing him, under that blue sky she would never feel again. The firm touch if his fingers that would never skim hers as she handed him a cup of coffee.
For all things must come to an end.
They asked her why she waited-wasn't it agony to watch her old life? Generations of them came and went, heading onto a new life.
But Petra stayed, her feet anchored to the spot by the viewing mirror. But everyone dies someday. Not even the strongest warrior could escape.
And as Levi was felled, for the last time, by a Titan, Petra stood and waited.
