Your Tongue Would be my Hairball

After falling down the stairs and Dylan laughing at me, I finally managed to eat some breakfast. I mean, if you consider one mouthful of cheerios breakfast, then yeah. I glance at my phone as it is ringing, deafening my morning ears and bringing my grumpy ears. I pick up and a snotty, sad Imogen tells me she can't take me to school today as she won't be in, ah the benefits of only having one friend. Not counting Dylan of course, he can't be my friend; he's my brother. We can be aliens together yayyyyy!

I rush out of the house to watch Dylan's carpool leave the drive, so much for brother, more like traitor. Well, I guess I have to blame myself for only having one friend. I mean, who does that? I go back inside and deliberate on asking Molly if I can use the car...Ew no, I'll smell like god knows what for the rest of the day! I guess I'll have to take the bus, or walk? You know what, I'll walk; I need to lose some weight anyway. Although I probably shouldn't think that, I mean positivity! And whatnot.

I start walking the 4 miles to school; maybe getting the bus was a good idea, well too late you idiot! I turn into the park, taking a tiny shortcut, which thinking about it hardly makes my journey any shorter. Urgh Im, why did you have to be ill? I take out my earphones and struggle to untangle them, I put them in all looped nicely and somehow, somehow they manage to tangle themselves. I continue to fumble, honestly if I had scissors I would have freaking cut them by now, this is so frustrating!

I bump into someone and immediately feel my cheeks turn a blazing hot red, a magnificent way my body has evolved to draw more unwanted attention to myself! I don't look up and mumble a hurried "Sorry!"

"Well, well, well, look who it is..." I recognize the bad boy's voice immediately and look up at his smirk

"If it isn't my favourite person!" I say fake enthusiastically

"I'm your favourite person? Boy, Kayleigh, you sure don't have a lot of friends do you?" He teases me and I roll my eyes

"You sure don't know what sarcasm is do you?" I mimic and he laughs

"I do, but do you?" He rolls his eyes and his friends catch up to him; Liam Brookes is the school prankster, don't trust him. Joshua Carter, the school drug dealer, don't trust him either. And lastly Daniel Jensen, the school charmer, on second thought, don't trust any of them. Noah Kingsley comes under the category school bad boy in case you were wondering. Now that my imaginary case files have been created I respond to Noah's idiotic response.

"So, to answer your question, I don't have imaginary friends, you wierdo" I laugh, as his face turns red, he and I both know his friends only heard that last comment from me. His friends all laugh along with me and I resort to smirking at him, reversing the roles in this kick ass play.

"What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" I smugly add and he shakes his head

"Oh please, you wish you were the cat" He smirks again and his friends laugh again but I keep my cool, I'm not half bad at comebacks.

"Yes and your tongue would be my hairball that I'm trying to sick up" His friends all shout a loud

"OOOOHHHH!" and they pat me on the back almost making me fall over from the shock

Noah sees me trying not to fall over and laughs, I am so glad my near pain gives him pleasure.

"So what's your name?" Daniel asks and gestures for us to walk together, but now that I think about it, Noah walked into me and now we are walking back the way he came. Did he do it on purpose? Note to self: Ask Noah later.

"Kayleigh" I say and stuff my still tangled earphones into my pocket

"So how on earth does a nice girl like you, know a...well Noah?" Liam asks and I look to Noah,he probably doesn't want them to know about me being his tutor, he meets my gaze and answers for me just as I thought he would,

"My Dad is working with her Dad, so you know we have to suffer through dinners together" He covers and heart pangs at the mention of my Dad

"We haven't heard about her before" Joshua mutters

"They only started working together recently," I answer and Noah glares at me. For goodness sake! I'm just adding to his lie! Like he was even going to say anything differently

"What's your Dad's name?" Joshua seems to interrogate and I try to subtly look at Noah, who then speaks in my defense. Joshua must have noticed Noah and I's lies, but Noah probably doesn't want to tell them in protection of his huge ego.

"That's classified, Kayleigh's Dad doesn't want any paparazzi so he remains unknown to the outside world" I am shocked by Noah's smooth lie, who knew huh? Although I doubt the paps would notice my imaginary Dad, he would probably just be an old boring businessman to them.

We carry on walking to school and I get to know all of them, they're not all that bad as people make them out to be. Liam is actually very funny and teases everyone a lot, he also talks a lot about food, which is hilarious. Joshua is very quiet and only really speaks to ask a question or answer a question; he also doesn't smile very much. Daniel is just really kind; in fact it makes me feel kind of bad for not being so kind. Noah is just Noah, he's vain and annoying, oh and he's also annoying, did I mention he's annoying?

After a boring three hours of lessons I have lunch, which is great, because I have no one to sit with. In stories if a girl is a loner she goes to eat in the library, however I can't do that because, one, our library is tiny, and two, not to be mean, but it is already occupied with the weirdo's and misfits of the school, which I mean in the kindest way possible. I grab a sandwich and pay for it at the till, which is occupied by the least favourite dinner lady of the school; Brenda, she has a huge hairy black wart and her hair is dyed green, but it's like a disgusting Shrek green. I resist the urge to shudder as she scratches her wart and speed walk away from the till.

I pass Noah and his friends when I make my way to the exit, I can eat outside I guess. Lost in my thought I don't hear Noah say my name, although I do feel him grab my wrist and pull me back to his table.

"Hey!" I say glaring at the bad boy

"Sit with us, your friend isn't here today, or should I say stranger" He replies referring to when I asked if I could tell Im about what happened last, last Saturday. I laugh and think about his proposal, wouldn't it damage his reputation? But then again he asked me. Would it damage my reputation? Pfffff as if I have a reputation. Would this be considered as betraying Im? No she betrayed-

"Stop overthinking and sit down Adams" He rolls his eyes and sighs and I laugh awkwardly, how does he know me so well already? He moves onto the seat next to him and I sit down in his seat, which by the way is warm, and it's weird and I don't like it. His friends eventually join us, Joshua being especially late and suspiciously smelling of weed, but I'm not stupid or naive, I know he smokes marijuana, the whole school knows, even the teachers!

I suddenly remember my Dad, he used to smoke. But then he got a little too carried away and started doing all sorts of drugs and shit, that was when my Mum had to work abroad for a year. I remember the house always smelling disgusting and just wishing I could do something to help him, except I couldn't, that was the problem. I tried and tried to help him, but in the end I just made it worse. I never know what to say or do to help some one. Which is ironic considering I'm a tutor.

Noah nudges me and I look up from my lap to his brown eyes which are filled with concern.

"What?" I ask and he smiles gently

"Are you okay?" I force a smile onto my face; I'm surprised that he could tell I wasn't all right

"Yeah, of course, why?" He rolls his eyes and pokes my forehead causing goose bumps to erupt all over my arms

"You know, up in that big brain of yours, that you shouldn't lie to me. You don't have to tell me what the matter is, but don't lie, that's worse" I don't meet his eyes, it's honestly creepy how he knows that I'm lying.

"Sorry" I mutter and he ruffles my hair, to which I shriek and slap his hand away

"Don't worry, K-bear, you don't need to say sorry" I meet his eyes, they're playful but caring, almost like a big brother.

This chapter is very long, but don't get used to it. I'm so sorry I didn't update last week, I'm going to try and update 2 more chapter to say sorry, but don't sue me if I don't. Tell your boss!
