Chapter 23

Mae’s P.O.V.

                Tomorrow I have to leave, and I want to leave nothing left for him but happiness and the love that I have gave him but that would hurt him even more. The deeper I love him the more painful it is for both of us, so maybe I should try and let go.

“Mae, are you ready?” Nick asked grabbing my hand,

“Ready for what?” I asked curiously tilting my head as he dragged me outside, while we walked in unison under the bright hot sun.

“It’s a surprise” He says excitedly in a try to be manly voice of his. As we walked the road upon us was long and wild with curves.

“Tell me about your wolf family” I asked,

“Well there’s nothing to say, I am going to be an alpha once I marry my soul mate and once that happens I have a lot of responsibility to take on and inherit the families power to control the forest” He replies,

“Is Charles jealous?” I asked.

“Actually he wants to be the alpha while I don’t, he’s doing everything he can to take over that place as a leader” Nick replies softly looking at the road ahead.

“What is one way where Charles can’t be an alpha” I asked,

“One is if Charles never marry, two is if he never found his mate, and three is that the person he marries isn’t alive anymore” Nick said the words slowly and the third reason shocked me. Die?! That’s shocking enough. I have to switch topics before he can find out anything!

“What powers do you have when you’re a wolf?” I asked turning a left,

“We can be very fast; we hunt as a pack, and can do telepathy when needed. But, it is required that the wolf family turn into wolf during the full moon because it’s just traditional and forced” Nick answered.

“So do you eat humans?” I asked, afraid to hear the answer.

“When we shift, we eat, kill and have no control over ourselves. It especially happens on a full moon though.” Nick replies,

“Have you killed anyone before? And what if the human still survives after the killing?” I asked,

“Most likely the human will get infected by the bites and turn into one of us, but they’re not as pure as the new born one, they are much crazier and go after human at night, but under the full moon they will just go for a feast and stuff themselves. To my remembrance, when I turned into a werewolf I only ate animal like the small ones maybe even big ones, but I don’t remember any human being around except for…that one time” He trailed off and I stopped looking at him.

“What one time, you better tell me mister!” I commanded as if I was his mom,

“That one time during the dance, I ran deep into the forest but this stocker here keeps following!” He pointed my nose and I scrunched giggling and we started to walk again.

“Hmph! I was worried about my homework!” I denied awfully bad,

“Yeah sure! In your heart you know you were worried about me!” Nick laughed. From the day I knew him; I have to know that his ego was that big! When we arrived I read the sign ‘IcePalace’, there’s an ice palace in Hawaii?! If I’m smart enough, this place better not be snowing or packed with ice like it said on the sign. After we entered Nick took off his jacket and put it around me, I took it and put it on. The jacket was big and the sleeves were long. Suddenly, Nick stopped me from going further in to see what was inside.
