Chapter Two
Stepping into the hallway after I finished eating my dinner? I think it was dinner I am not sure about the time though. I shrug at the thought, I glance around the mansion with a sigh. I look down at the map Miss Heather gave me to get around the large place. The main room where I am standing looks like something from a victorian home, it is large and spacious. The main color scheme is burgundy, gold and black.
I walk up the stairs as I follow the lines on the piece of paper, I walk through the halls trying to find the stupid door. I stop for a moment and look down at the paper again and glare at it. I suddenly feel someone knock into me. I peer up at a boy with violet eyes and dark long wavy green hair. What a weird combination. The boy is taller than me, he looks like he swims a lot because of his body type, and broad shoulders and smaller waist.
" Are you lost?" The boy asks me, he didn't seem to worried about running into me, he just steps back from me and looks down at me.
"Yeah." I nod, "Where is room 533?"
The boy purses his lips then sighs, "Down the hall, about five more doors and it's on the right." He tells me, "I'm Garrett, by the way, Miss Heather told all of us that we were getting a new resident you must be him."
I nodded, "Is there just boys here?" I ask.
"Yes actually, there's another mansion or well academy for girls, but we never see them unless it is some kind of sport or meeting of some sort." He tells me, "What's your name?"
"Cameron." I tell him.
"Isn't that a girls name?"
"No it can be male or female." I cross my arms and sigh, "Anyway I better get going." I say then turn and walk away from him.
"Hey I wasn't trying to be mean." Garrett calls after me.
"Yeah sure, bye." I wave him off and continue down the hall.
Once I get to the room I knock on the door, I wait for a moment then the door opens to reveal a boy with black hair that was tied up in a bun and bright yellow eyes, he is pretty short around my 5'4 probably a few inches taller than me. He was wearing a pair of black slacks and a plain blue long sleeved, although there was a small symbol on the left side of his shirt, it was that same dragon on the paper I have on the paper Miss Heather gave me.
"Hello, are you Cameron Eva?" He asks me, I nod and he smiles at me, "Then come in you probably have a lot of questions."
I nod and step into his room, " So what's your name?" I ask when he tells me to sit on one of the two beds, I sit on the one by a window, it is still dark outside.
"It's Reverent." He shrugs, " Friends call me Revvy though, " He smiles at me and sits on the other bed, "How old are you?" he asks me.
"Um, sixteen." I tell him.
"I'm sixteen too, which is normal for the people in our grade." He laughs a little."What are the symbols for?" I ask.
Reverent tilts his head to the side narrowing his eyes a little bit, but he doesn't look made, more of that he was thinking of how to answer, " So you know how there are grades for high school? Freshman, sophomore, junior and senior?"
"Yeah."
"Well the symbols basically tell other people which grade you're in and what kind of level you are on with magic and stuff."
"What are the symbols?"
"There's Aries, Taurus,Gemini,Cancer,Leo,Virgo,Libra,Scorpio, Sagittarius,Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces." He tells me.
"Wait...Isn't Aries a Ram not a dragon?" I ask him.
"Yes, it is, but every symbol on someone's shirt has a dragon with is just different colors,"
"So if Aries is ours shouldn't it be red and not blue?" I ask him.
"Okay argue with the mistress about this," He rolls his eyes,
"Okay well, does these have anything to do with our birthdays?" I ask him.
"Actually yes is does, my birthday is April 8th so I'm an Aries,"
"What a bright idea to but Aries all together." I sarcastically say.
"Yeah, well you learn to deal with people that are like you at some point while staying here." He tells me,
"Okay so are there still actual grades?"
"Yeah they're basic, there's one, two, three and so one the highest you can get to is twelve." Reverent tells me and brushes piece of hair from his face.
"So do the letters kind of warn people what you are?"
"Yeah, Stay away from scorpios they're backstabbers." He tells me.
"What does this have to do with anything considering powers and such?" I ask.
"Well, it's a school. You learn that, you're just labeled as things."
I pout, "I hate labels." I tell him.
"I don't care and no one else does," He rolls his eyes, "Anyway, let's go see Amira, he'll help with ordering clothes and other school things you need." He gets up from where he was sitting and walks out the door without looking back to see if I was following him.
I wasn't sure how I like this place anymore, I mean what's the point of labeling people when they could turn it around and turn out to be something else or a mix of the signs. I just think it's ridiculous, but I'll follow along with this idiocy.
