I was blinded by the sunlight once we exited the movie theatre. And my legs felt like lead as I sat down on the curb. Haley sat down next to me, "Well, that was fun, huh?" She nudged my shoulder with her own.
"Yeah, except for the part Levi almost spoiled." I shot him a scornful look.
"I couldn't help myself, that was the best part in the book." He complained.
"Just don't do it again." Haley scolded him. "If there's ever gonna be another movie."
"I liked it." Lillie said, balancing on top of a concrete slab. "And I didn't get scared at all." She punched Levi's arm.
"Oh please." He rolled his eyes, "You were nearly cutting off circulation in my arm in the middle of it 'cause you were squeezing so tight."
"You could've told me, but I wasn't scared at all." She stuck up her chin.
"Sure." He raised an eyebrow at her.
Alex came over, sticking his phone in his pocket. "Dad should be on his way now, I just texted him." He looked around at us, then his eyes lit up. "Hey, if my dad can give me more money, we could get a bite to eat."
"But we just ate a ton of popcorn and stuff in the theatre." I said.
"So?" Alex shrugged. "That was...just an appetizer." He made a face. "You can't be full from all that."
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't eat much."
"I know that's a lie, Emma." Haley made a face at me. "You eat like a pig around me."
"Haley!" I punched her arm as she laughed.
Alex laughed too. "Seriously though, I think we should get some real food, not snacks." He shot me a look.
"Hey, " I put up my hands defensively, "food is food."
"You would say that, Emma." Lillie giggled.
I stuck my tongue out at her as she giggled some more.
"So then, where do you guys want to eat?" Alex crossed his arms, his gaze sweeping over us.
"Really?" Haley raised an eye brow at him at him. "You're gonna pay for all of us? Because I can be expensive."
"That you are, my friend." I waggled my finger in front of her face and she shooed it away.
"I'm sure I can afford it." He laughed.
"I can pay for me and Lillie." Levi said. "I've got some money in my wallet."
"Alright, " Alex nodded. "Thanks."
"Fine, I'll eat some more. After all I'm totally down for eating." I said, standing up and stretching.
"You always are, Emma." Haley gave me a shove. "And yet you still stay skinny."
I raised my arms and shook my hips, "It's just 'cause I'm awesome." I started doing a little dance.
"Wow, you've got some moves." Alex chuckled.
I became aware of him watching and quickly stopped, clearing my throat. "Thanks." I stammered, attempting to hide my blush, but unfortunately Haley saw.
"Aww, you're blushing!" She laughed.
"Shut up!" I hissed at her, but it only made me blush more. Lillie giggled, and whispered something to her brother.
"Ah, seems like you've got a thing for Alex." Levi grinned. "Huh, Emma?"
Alex looked at me with a sly smile, "Oh, is that so?"
