Prologue

-

"Allison, promise me this. Promise me you will be happy."

I looked up with tear stained eyes at my best friend.

Would she still be my best friend after this? Would she even remember me?

It was my last day in the state I grew up in.

My dad had accepted a job nearly 1,000 miles away.

Just my luck to be moving senior year...

"I'll be happy one day. Just not today." I sobbed.

Rayleigh hugged me.

"I'll text you everyday, you know that. I'll even write you letters! I'm gonna miss you so much.." A single tear rolled down her cheek.

A honk came from outside, and I turned around to see my mom's car waiting for me.

Well this is it..

She hugged me again, this time tighter than before.

"Remember I'm always here for you. No distance will keep us apart." She managed to let out in between tears.

I stepped outside into the pouring rain and opened the car door before waving goodbye to my best friend a final time.

My mom looked over to me and let out a depressed sigh and drove on.

The car was full of the boxes that didn't fit on the U-HAUL, so sitting comfortably wasn't an option.

I put in my headphones, pressed play, and looked back at my hometown for the last time.

Goodbye Georgia..
