Shine Snape and her Potions Master

Chapter 17

(Shine's p.o.v.)

I was welcomed into Artemis with claps as I went and sat down next to Sera. Sera was enthusiastic. She waved to Natasha at Athena table. But Nats was busy biting her nails. Felix her younger brother was yet to be sorted. And Z was a long way off. Soon the Z started with Zaffary. And then it was turn of the second last student Zora, Felix.

Felix walked up and got done quickly. The book glowed yellow and said Apollo. Nats had an almost shocked expression on her face. I guess her entire family were Athenians. Everyone at the Apollo table clapped. And Felix settled down.

I was a bit disappointed as I lost my partner in crime almost as fast as I found him. Well we would have classes together no matter. The last student got into Vulcan and I waited for food to appear. It appeared in everyone's plate but mine. Sera looked at my confused expression and started laughing. Laughing? And then Tony started to laugh as well. "Wait a minute I seriously do not get the joke. Guys am I missing something. Coz m really starving.:

"The food is wishful thinking. Wish all you want. You acting like you are muggleborn."

"Oh! Great! Thanks. At Hogwarts the head snaps fingers and food appears. So I was waiting for that."

"Weird." they all said and started laughing again. Soon we all enjoyed the feast with our favouraites. I had fried chicken, sausages, boiled eggs, even chicken noodles. For dessert I had brownie and chocolate chip icecream. I could easily have been in heaven.

After dinner everyones eyes were droopy with satisfaction and Headmaster Karkaroff got up to make a speech.

I had got in with influence. Dad knew him well and had requested him to accept me. Now do not even start to ask me how because I hardly know that myself.

"Students, all of you old or new I the Headmaster to the school of Durmstrang of witchcraft and wizardry wecome. First of all. Now that I have welcomed you I would like to inform you that school starts regular beginning tomorrow. You do not have a settle down break. Older students would already know this. You have to learn to behave yourself. Misbehavior is not at all tolerated at the school. You get only three warnings before you get expelled.

As for point system you know the regular rules. But we have decided this year to increase the point limit to 250.

Also I would like to remind you all once again that the sea is off limits to everyone who do not wish to commit suicide.

With that he clapped his hands the dirty glasses and dishes cleared off and the tables slid behind. Everyone got up and the house prefects and representatives took charge as they led the students to the respective houses.

I reached my dorm that I shared with Sera. We sat down on the bed and found our trunks. Using a simple spell that Dad had taught me I arranged my stuff neatly into the closet. I did the same for Sera's stuff. Then we both had a nice warm shower. Warm milk with poppy seeds appeared on the bedside table. We drank it after changing into our pyjamas and switched off the lights. And then I fell into a dreamless sleep.

Day 1

I got up early next morning. The rooms had been charmed to keep warm. I walked in for a shower. Sera was still asleep. I planned to wake her up after I was done. I brushed my teeth and had a warm shower. The water smelled of vannila. I emerged my wet curls over my shoulders dripping.

I dried my hair with a spell and dressed quickly. The white collar of my shirt now had a thin teal and black silk border. I then woke Sera and waited for her reading the textbook of my first class.

Soon we both got ready and we left for breakfast. I had pancakes and chocolate sauce for breakfast. Sera had tea and jam toast. Then we hurried off to class at around 7:30. The first class was charms. It was taught by Apollo head of house Abigail Dahl. We had the lecture with Felix's house. I entered and found we were very early. So we took our seats immediately. We did not want to sit on the first bench and look like geeks.

Slowly people started filing in. Felix came in but he did not look his usual self. He seemed disturbed. I waved at him but he did not return it. His eyes were red but not puffy.

I pointed it out to Sera. She too had noticed it. She said we could talk to him later.

Just then the door opened and in walked Abigail Dahl. Prof. Dahl was nicknamed B.L. by the seniors. And I could see why. That lady was the head of a house represented by white and yellow and the only colour she sported was black. Black lady or B.L. for short was a fitting nickname. I looked at her and I felt no dark aura present. I dont know why I felt wierd in her presence.

She soon started with a short self introduction. And then she explained the subject she would be teaching. She asked each of us what age did we first get a wand. She raised an eyebrow when I answered seven. Then she asked us,about swish n flicks. She showed us the various possible ways. And told us which would be used for what kind of spells. Then she told us to practice the most basic flicks.

As we worked she paced around the class improving and criticizing people. She seemed cool enough. But I could feel her eyes boring into the back of my head. I looked back but she wasnt looking at me.

The rest of the class went smoothly. She told us to get an essay on varied hand movements. But she gave us a very short assignment.

The next class was Camouflage and illusions. It was taught by Proffesor Demetri Reznik. Prof. Reznik was a tall guy with burgundy hair. He had however lot of white hair in between. He had eyes the same colour as his hair dark red. He had a stubble kept neat in the shape of a french beard or a goatee. Rez as he was nicknamed was the head of Vulcan house. He was wearing midnight blue robes that had a subtle silver lining.

He wecomed us all to a nice first year and introduced himself as a proud Vulcan. And he beamed a lot with a very toothy smile. The year he said we wont be dealing with camouflage. Infact we wont deal with it till the third year. Then he beamed again.

I really dont know why he beams so much. I 'm still debating whether the grumpy Prof. B.L. was better. He then left class early after telling us the basics and the uses of the subject. And I think I can tell you now who's better.

The next hour me Sera and a new friend Edward Selwyn walked off to lunch. Felix had run off as soon as lectures ended. So Sera wanted a confrontation. She walked up to the table and tapped him on his shoulder. He looked back to see us standing behind him. He scowled.

"What is it?"

"You are avoiding us." Sera stated bluntly unaffected by his rude tone.

"Why do you care?"

"Because you are a friend Lix-"

"Just leave me alone will you. Be happy you made Artemis."

"Lix, it doesnt matter what house you are in. I 'm certain-"

"Why cant you just leave me alone? Does nothing enter that thick blond head of yours Romanov?"

Sera's lower lip trembled. She opened her mouth to reply but closed it again. That jerk had dared to insult my new best friend. He had left her on the verge of tears for her concern. He sure pays for it. No matter how disturbed he was he pays for it. I dragged Sera off to our table.

Then I pointed my wand at his water goblet and muttered a spell under my breath. A moment later he drank it and by Merlin the expression satisfied me lots. He couldnt swallow yak piss,could he?

Suspecting something he looked in my direction and spotted my smug smile before I could hide it. He walked up with the goblet and downed it on my head.
