As soon as class was over I dashed to my brother's coffee shop. Even though he's my brother and should be cutting me off some slack I end up being the target of his grouchiness.
I hope today would be different at least, he knows I'm not really in the mood for his earful.

Going in the back door with my spare keys, I tiptoed across the pantry, trying not to get caught since his office was right next to the lockers.

"You're late again, Genevieve."

Guess I was wrong. My brother, and boss, Radford just came in from the tables, dusting off his black polo shirt and apron.

"Rad, hey, hi, how's it going." I said I inched closer to the locker rooms to change in my uniform.

He stepped closer and crossed his arms at me and shaking his head in disappointment.

"This will be another deduction, do you understand? Just because you're my sister doesn't mean you can slack off, this means you have to work four times as much as others, to set an example."

I hung my head in shame and my cheeks burned in shame. I heard him sigh again.

He's always like this, he's never satisfied.

"Go do your job,"

"Yes, sir."

He opened the door to his office, fixing his hair and sat down at his table. I went inside the locker room and changed my shirt and skirt, got my apron and took off my wig to tie my hair in a bun. I went out to start my shift.

"Gen," Rad called out to me, "People die all the time, if you let this one death affect you then you'll never make it."

"But I'm not affected by it." I smiled. There was a difference. A huge difference. I understand that people die. I'm just dealing with the fact that I lost my friend.

He was going to say something more but I walked faster to serve customers at the tables.

"Gen!"

My coworker, Roxy, was calling out to me and pointing me to the direction of a couple who I have to serve while she was serving a man working on his laptop. Taking down his order, at the back of the page she wrote the details of his death as they briefly touched while the man handed back the menu.

Roxy was a death seer, so was Jason who made tasty pastries and the best lattes while also serving. And so was Penny who received negative remarks on the counter for being too impatient and mean.

We were all death seers here, and somewhat related too.

It was draining to see visions for twenty people today. I need more, but today was just stressful.

Changing back to my clothes so I could go home ahead, since my brother doesn't want to go home with me, there was a knock on the glass windows from the outside. A loud enough knock that reached to the lockers.

"Goddammit Gareth! You'll break the glass!"

A slam came from Radford's office door and mad footsteps towards the entrance of the café.

Gareth was my other brother; and we three could pass for Carly's Angels. If Carly's Angles were all black haired, have two men in who were twins and always fighting.

We love each other.

"You son of a bitch!"

Yep, we really love each other.

"You just called your own mother a bitch, you incompetent nitwit."

"Alright guys, stop it."

Getting in between guys a foot taller than you was no easy task for sure, especially if they want to rip each others eyes out.

"Stay away from my shop, Gareth."

"It was just a window, your highness."

Well, Gareth and Radford are twins but they're total opposites. Radford was more of prim and proper, the classy side. Gareth was more rebellious and free-spirited. Rad has his hair tied back and Gareth washed his hair last week, probably. Rad owns a café and Gary is a tattoo artist.

"Anyway I'm here for our sister, Rad."

Putting his arms on my shoulder, we began walking.

"What's it about Gary?"

His face then sunk. Pain was evident in his eyes. He was thinking for the right words to say as his tongue played on his lip ring.

"I knew what was about to happen you know?"

"I don't understand?"

"Jennifer."

What? But they only see each other when I invited Jenny in the house? How?

"We dated."

His eyes weren't lying. Hands in his pocket his fists were tightly clenched and veins were popping in his arms.

"If you knew...if you dated, why didn't you stop her? Why didn't you let her go all alone?"

Looking down at his feet, Gareth couldn't look me in the eye. "I couldn't interfere, you know that Gen. We were taught that."

His voice was shaky. For the first time I saw him this vulnerable, and for the first time is stone cold mask cracked.

"When did your start being together?"

But it was only a grain of sand in a beach, he inhaled deeply and stared at me in the eyes sharply. He was back to his usual self.
"That doesn't matter."

His features were more relaxed now but at the same time he was more deadly. Something has changed. We can't see another seers death, only a full reaper can. If I only could see.

"I couldn't see clearly who it was who was responsible for it in the vision, so I thought maybe you would."

"No," I swallowed the lump that was forming again at my throat. "No, I did not."
"Is that so?"

"Why do you ask Gary?"

"It's nothing, sis."

Placing his hand on my head he smiled at me. Unsure I smiled back at him. Turning his back he began to walk away with a cigarette in between his lips.

"Tell mom to save me some dinner, I'll be out late."

A feeling deep in my gut tells me he's about to do the dumbest thing he'll ever do in his life.
