I woke up to a loud bang. I sprang right out of my bed I had mad of some blankets and cloth I found in the back room of the 7-Eleven I was sheltering in. I ran out of the store and looked towards the sound. I saw nothing.
“Hmm.... I should probably look around maybe there's another survivor.. I just hope to god its not another on of those creatures.. there has to be more then one of them...” I walked back in a barricaded the door. I went to the back of the burnt building and started rummaging threw the wreckage for something that could protect me. I found a piece of metal that looks like it was a piece of foundation to a building. “This will do..” I said as I threw it up in the air and caught it as it came down. I inspected it. It looked durable and heavy.
I threw on my shoes and started for the back door of my shelter. I un-barricaded the doors and started slowly out, looking cautiously around. Boston was still crumbling around me. The buildings all around me were almost gone. I heard rustling behind some trashcans and my heart started pounding as it did many times before, wondering around this god for saken place. I crept slowly over to the rumbling cans. My heart still pounding, my palms now sweating. I slowly removed the lid to one of the cans and looked in side.
“Oh.. wow... I was scared over nothing its just a raccoon.. I feel silly now..” I tipped the can over and let the little creature out. He scampered away into the dark, smoldering city. As I watched the raccoon disappear I saw something dart across the street and grab it. I was shocked i've never seen something move so fast. I stood there looking at it. I couldn't tell if it was a boy or girl. Or even if it was human, it growled and looked up at me.
“Oh my god.... its... one.. of those.. things....” I held in my scream. It's eyes were black and hollow looking just like the other...the little boy.... I looked down over at my shoulder. It burnt like hell. I held it, looking straight in to that creatures eyes. It picked up the raccoon and bit into it. Blood spewed out on its burnt shirt. I screamed at the shrill squeal that the poor little animal made at the Things dagger teeth that punctured its skin.
“Oh my god.. what the hell...” I got wicked nauseous and bent over and puked. WhenI stood back up the creature wasn't there. I got wicked nervous and backed up into the store. I looked around but still, nothing appeared. I started to get really scared. I quickly ran inside and slammed the door, but as I did the creature came out of no where and lunged at the door. It was growling and snarling. It clawed at the door and pounded on the glass. The shrill screams that protruded from the creatures throat made me dizzy. I struggled so hard to keep the door shut. I pushed and pushed at the door, but it was way to strong. I finally got the barricade back on the door. It slammed it's body against the door, again and again and again. Each time harder and harder. It final broke through. It stumbled as the door hit the floor.
It started walking towards me grining an awful sinister smile. It reached out trying to grab my hair but I backed away. It looked wounded as it moved closer to me. The I noticed it. There was a giant shard of glass from one of the windows it broke imbedded in its side. It gave me a wicked grin and started running at me. I freaked out, I didn't know what to do. It got closer and closer. I backed uo into a wall.
“Oh god... i'm going to die.. i'm going to die...” I started crying, and I feel to the ground. It came closer and then stopped a foot in front of me. I closed my eyes and threw my hands onto the floor. I dragged my hands along the ground. Then I felt it. The piece of metal I fished out of the debris pile. I gripped the edges of the pipe and opened my eyes. “Ahhhhhhhhhhh!” I screamed. When I opened my eyes the creature was derectly in front of me. Its teeth peeked out of its mouth. A sickly grin creeped across its face as it opened its mouth wide and lunged at me. Its teeth sunk into my neck and I screamed. Just as it was about to bite me again I swung the pipe into its head. I flung it off me and sank the sharp end of the pipe into its throat. Black blood puddled underneath the lifeless body. It was dead. Dead.
