Today was Nina's last day here and I wanted to make the most out of it but she wouldn't stop asking about Cara. "So how can you be friends with her?"
"What do you mean?" I wasn't sure why the topic of the discussion this morning had to be Cara. I just wanted to eat my cereal in peace.
"Well I mean I didn't know what she looked like until today and she doesn't seem like someone you would be friends with. Plus she smokes cigarettes."
"She's tough looking on the outside but once you get to know her she's really nice." I smile at the thought that I got her to open up to me.
"Right." She says quickly and starts to stir the cereal in her bowl around.
"Nina! You're still here." Harry walks into the kitchen like owns the place.
"Actually," she pushes her chair back and stands before saying, "I'm leaving."
"Okay, I'll see you later."
"No, I'm going back home."
"But you said you weren't leaving until tomorrow morning."
"My dad needs me." She gives me an apologetic look. "Bye." And with that she left as fast as she could.
"What... the... fuck?" Harry laughs slowly. "That was weird."
"I'm so confused." I confess. "We were talking about Cara and then all of a sudden she needs to leave."
He smirks and crosses his arms. "What if the outing little bitch actually likes you."
"Or maybe she just really needed to go back home." I finish my cereal and clean up after. "Why are you even here?"
"Oh yeah! I seen window boy at a party last night."
The infamous window boy who is also known as Cara's boyfriend who I try to forget.
"Okay?" I question, waiting to see if this was leading somewhere.
"He was kissing a girl," he finally says. "Well two actually."
"Ouch." I genuinely felt sorry for Cara, my heart even sank. No one deserves to be cheated on and especially her. "You have to tell her what you saw."
"Noooo." He whined. "You do it she's your friend."
"But it'll be right if it came from you."
"Or how about we just don't tell her?" He suggest. "I mean she said it wasn't serious."
I don't know how Cara would react. I'm slowly seeing her emotions one at a time and the last one that I'll want to see is sadness of a broken heart.
Later that day I texted Nina to make sure that everything was okay. She said that things were fine and that she just needed to take care of something at home. That put me at ease because I thought I had did something.
"Who are you texting?" Cara soft voice whispers.
I look up and she's standing in my doorway unannounced. "Nina. How'd you-"
"Your mom let me in." She stepped inside and closed the door behind her. "Not happy to see me?" She leaned against the window and took out a cigarette.
"No I am."
I immediately started to feel guilty for not telling her about window boy.
"Well good, I need to talk to you about something." She gave her cigarette quite a long look before slipping it back in her pocket. "So I kinda stopped hanging out with that guy you saw coming from my window."
I nodded. "Your boyfriend."
"Yeah." She chuckles. "Well I wanted to see him after you left my house yesterday but he didn't answer me and even today still nothing."
Okay the guilt is getting worse.
"And I know he's ignoring me because I started distancing myself from him but honestly it was because I started being with you that I didn't even think about needing him." She smiles. "I even think you kind of got me to stop smoking- just for today at least."
I have to tell her.
"Cara... I have to tell you something and before I do I just wanna say that I'm so sorry."
"What is it?"
"Harry went to a party last night and your boyfriend was there.." I explain. "Kissing two girls."
"No." She shakes her head in denial. "He's lying. You're lying."
"It's true but I wish it wasn't."
"He wouldn't cheat." She says. "Not on me."
"I wouldn't lie about something like this."
"Yeah right." She rolls her eyes. "We're done." She storms out of my room and slams the door shut.
I jumped, closing my eyes to ease the burn that my tears were causing.
Why didn't she believe me?

I was woken up out of my sleep by sounds that was coming from my window. I thought someone was breaking in but then I realized it was just Cara. Did she come back to yell at me some more? She opened my window from the outside and climbed inside.
"What are you doing?" I whispered.
She didn't answer, instead she took off her shoes and looked at me. Even though it was dark, the lights from outside showed her face that was covered with tears. My heart immediately sank.
I moved the wall and raised the covers. "Come lay with me."
She quickly slipped into bed next to me and pulled me into her. She was warm. This was sadness.
"You were right." Her voice was hoarse which meant that she was yelling.
She cried hard into my neck and I held her tight. I stroked her hair and told her that everything would be okay.
"This is was what I was afraid of." I say below a whisper, knowing that her cries would drown me out.
I held her all night, hoping that this would mend her broken heart.
