The Perfect Escape
The water shimmers an ocean blue,
Sunset painting an orange hue
Across the sky the people view.
The grass is cool beneath their feet
As couples quietly sneak to meet,
Unloading troubles, escaping heat.
Smelling the freshness engraved in trees,
They watch as autumn color the leaves
And feel the coolness of wind's light breeze.
They hear the whispers of creatures around
Scurrying along the well-worn ground,
Storing precious foods they have found.
The stars have finally come to shine,
Amongst the dark patterns align,
Wishes they grant from time to time.
All is quiet as eyes shut close,
The wind a lullaby as it softly blows,
Dreams invading as they doze.
