"Are you sure this is right?" Owen asked me as we walked up to the Jurassic World health centre.
"Owen, now the initial scan is done we can carry on with smaller scans here." I said. We had rearranged an impromptu baby scan to find out our due date before we met Claire later to view our potential new house.
"Alright babe." Owen said as we walked towards the front desk, "um, we're here for the baby scan." He said to the receptionist, causing her to giggle.
"Mr and Mrs Grady?" She said and I rushed to correct her.
"It's Rosie Phillips and Owen Grady." I corrected her but she smiled all the same.
"Second door on your left, Dr White is waiting for you." She said and Owen placed his hand on the small of my back as we walked to the open door.
"Ah come in! It's good to see you again." Dr White said, shaking our hands, "Dr Gomez sent the information over from your last scan a few days ago! You certainly are eager." I got up onto the bed and lifted my shirt up.
"We kind of need to find out the due date as we are going to be moving." Owen explained, sitting on the chair next to the bed.
"Oh the excitement of getting your first house and having your first baby. I remember it well. Anyway, you've come to the right place." She laughed and I smiled, "we're going to do an internal scan today just to double check how developed everything is." I gulped.
"I know you might be nervous, but most women hardly feel anything." Dr White turned away to prep and I felt my phone vibrate against my leg. I glanced down and saw Owen had text me.
The only thing that should be in there is me😩
I suppressed a giggle as Dr White came back over and I bit my lip whilst looking at Owen quickly.
The whole appointment was over quickly and we found out that the baby was due October 16th.
"It would be tight for avoiding the disruption, but it would be possible." Claire explained later on as we walked to the new complex. It wasn't far away from the control room, just the other direction than the bungalows.
We soon turned into a drive that was named 'Strawberry Fields' and astute red brick houses were standing. They had little gardens in front and back, but it had an overall cramped feeling.
"How many bedrooms is this?" I asked as Claire fiddled with her huge ring of keys to find the key for number 4.
"It's four bedroomed with a loft space." She noticed my surprised look, "these houses were specially built for employees like you that do have families on the park. It's not ideal the way they're kind of cramped in together, but they are stunning inside."
She wasn't wrong there. No expenses had been spared on the interior of the house. Top of the range kitchen, beautiful wide windows, gorgeously large bedrooms. It was all breathtaking, but I couldn't see me and Owen living here in a million years- it just wasn't us.
After the grand tour from Claire had finished, Owen and I returned back to my house and we both collapsed on the bed, exhausted, staring at the ceiling. We hadn't said a word about the house, and there was a thick air of anticipation between us.
"I hated it." I blurted out and Owen seemingly sighed in relief.
"So did I." he agreed.
"It just wasn't..." I deliberated.
"Us." we said in unison and we giggled.
"Well, we're going to have to break it to Claire." he said. I rolled over so I was facing him, and nodded.
"What are we going to do?" I asked quietly. Owen opened his mouth as if to say something, but decided against it, but then he came out with it.
"I know this sounds crazy, but why don't we extend one of the bungalows?" he blurted out.
"Extend? As in, add more rooms?" I said, dumbly. Owen snickered and rolled his eyes at me.
"I figured that if we extended the back of it, there would be room in the bedroom to build a wall and into the living room to make a medium sized bedroom for the baby. Therefore, the kitchen would at least double in size, and with a re-vamp, it would be beautiful. We could make the living room more modern, and it would be like our new home. It would be bigger, and right in our perfect location." Owen explained and I bit my lip, thinking about it. We loved living on the side of the ocean, and the bungalow was perfect, and if we had more room, there would be no way we could leave.
"We do love it here." I deliberated.
"Of course we do. This is where we fell in love." He added, "so what do you think?"
"I think that it's the best idea ever." I said simply, grinning softly at him.
"You do?" he seemed a little surprised, but he smirked.
"It would be amazing. And whichever bungalow we do it on, we could move into the other whilst the work happened." I said and Owen nodded. We began talking about all the details, getting excited, and I even grabbed my laptop, searching up which kitchen set I wanted, and most importantly, nursery furniture.
Once I had been all interior designed out, Owen and I began kissing lazily, but gradually he hoisted me up onto his waist, his large hand firmly on my ass.
"My beautiful girlfriend." he whispered as he pulled off my shirt.
You can probably guess what happened next.
