I woke up to the sun pouring through the curtains and I smiled and stretched, reaching for Owen, but he wasn't there. I frowned and got out of bed, throwing on one of his shirts over my naked body. I padded through into the living room, noticing the nursery door slightly ajar. Smiling, I walked in, seeing Owen sitting on the chair in the corner of the room cradling out daughter, giving her her morning bottle.
"Good morning." I said softly, watching them fondly.
"Hey, mommy's awake!" Owen said more to Harper than me. Owen removed the empty bottle from her mouth and sat her up to face me.
"Hey baby!" I cooed at her and she smiled sleepily at me, the remains of her milk around her mouth. Owen stood up and handed her over so I could cuddle her. He had dressed her in a pale pink onesie with the sleeves rolled up due to it being a little big for her and as I held her in my arms her hand automatically went up to clasp my finger. My heart still stopped every time I saw her, I couldn't believe that she was our daughter. Half of me and half of Owen, utterly unique.
Owen came back into the room and he wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, resting his head on my shoulder.
"How'd you sleep?" he asked, tickling Harper with his finger.
"Really well." I smiled.
"Well considering you had most of the blankets I'm not surprised!" Owen teased me and I rolled my eyes.
"Have you heard from Claire?" I asked him.
"Yeah, she's meeting us in an hour."
"I better go and get ready, is everyone meeting us there?"
Owen thought about it for a second before he shrugged at me.
"Okay, well I'm going to go shower, will you watch her?" I asked.
"You know I would never say no." He said, taking Harper away from me and placing her on her play mat in the living room.
"There's a bottle in the fridge." I informed him before I got in the shower. I stared down at my body as I rinsed the previous day's dirt off me. My pregnant stomach had decreased rapidly and it was almost back to normal with just a little extra weight on my hips. My boobs were still gigantic, but that was due to the breastfeeding. I wasn't complaining though, and neither was Owen.
After getting out of the shower, I placed Harper on our bed with a barrier of pillows around her so she couldn't fall off and I blow dried and straightened my hair and did my make-up whilst Owen showered. I put on a dress and some heeled sandals and then put Harper into another romper that had dinosaurs on. It was a recurring theme with all the gifts we got for her, but it suited the occasion perfectly. I put a bow on a headband on her head and she fussed a little, but she began gurgling delightedly after a while, especially when Owen came in and took her off of me. She was definitely a daddy's girl.
"Come on Mommy, we're ready to go!" Owen called from the front door as I sprayed some random perfume.
"Coming!" I replied, running after them.
"My girl's look radiant, just like everyday." Owen said, wrapping an arm around my shoulder as we walked. I was pushing Harper in her stroller as we made our way to the main park.
Sure enough, everyone was standing there waiting. Claire, Barry, my Mom, Steve, Timmy, Maria and even Masrani. They all flooded over to coo over Harper.
"Where's this guy then Claire?" Owen asked impatiently.
"He'll be here any second." she glared at him. I nudged Owen playfully and he leant down and kissed me.
"Hey guys, I'm ready!" we all turned around and saw Zach holding a professional camera, Gray next to him.
"You're our photographer?" Owen raised an eyebrow. I was well aware of his distaste towards Zach. I squeezed his arm gently to tell him to calm down, but luckily Zach hadn't retaliated, he was too busy arranging us in the perfect order underneath the large Jurassic World sign. Gray took the stroller away and me and Owen took our places in the middle of everyone, each of us holding one side of Harper.
"Right, on the count of three, you guys ready?" Zach said and I smiled. I had everyone I loved around me, and I couldn't wait to capture this moment, for I was truly happy. I felt Claire grasp my hand that wasn't on Harper and then Zach was snapping the pictures, pulling goofy faces for Harper to smile at. I glanced quickly at Owen and saw him smiling widely, clasping our daughter protectively with me. I was the luckiest girl in the world; I had a happy and healthy baby, an amazing fiance, and perfect friends and family.
My life was everything I had pictured it to be... just with dinosaurs.
