Hi sorry I haven't updated in a while. It is a bit hard to explain...but I am gonna try. So I am on a 2 weeks vacation in Minnesota. This is also extremely unedited!

The warm day started off as a blur after that short but sweet moment with Shane. The pressure of being those elders everything was starting to get to me. They were always needing something or wanting to start a fight with me. My stomach rumbled with hunger which caused me to glance at the clock. Not that it mattered because I stupidly forgot my lunch at home.

"Get to work," a husky but playful voice sounded out which caused me to jolt in a guilty surprise. My sheepish smile lifted on my lips and I met that tall, dark but handsome man named Shane's eyes. His well built body was blocking the kitchen's entryway. I tried to calm those damn butterflies in my stomach.

"S-sorry I was just-" I began to try to explain myself awkwardly but he cut me off.

"Hey I was just teasing, Jasmine," he chuckled at my shyness but his eyes glint with an emotion I was not familiar with, "do you know you have a beautiful smile?"

Heat had risen up, turning into a wild blush all the while my heart had sped up. That guy was a huge flirt obviously with many girls but for once I didn't feel like he was just saying that to get into my pants. Well not totally at least.

Before I could respond to his compliment, my work partner came in with a grin on her pretty face. Her skin was a dark brown and her eyes a beautiful gold color. She was chewing a piece of gum as she playfully shoved Shane to the side, "Get to wooork, Shane."

Shane rolled his handsome eyes but winked at me before he left the room. Suddenly my partner looked at me, I believe her name was Mary.

"You like him?" She asked me playfully.

"W-what? Um only as a fri-friend," I pat out finally in a stupidly shy manner.

"Too bad," she winked also at me but set some food on the kitchen counter, you go on and take your break Jazzy."

I decided not to argue or mention that I hated that nickname. I grabbed the snickers candy bar from my purse and my phone as I began fast walking down the narrow hallway. Suddenly a strong arm stopped me and I was forced to turn to look at Shane. He was smiling and I tried not to squirm.

"You going on your break?" He asked me.

"Yeah, my lunch break..." I told him lamely. I tried not to beat myself up mentally for that idiotic response.

"Where is your lunch?" He asked curiously, hiding some sort of emotion behind those expressive eyes of his.

"You're looking at it," I said as I held up my chocolate. I gave him a shrug and weak smile that normally fooled everyone. He just shook his head.

"Do you like pizza?" He changed the subject.

"Yes, I mean...who doesn't?" I answered with a playful grin.

"Okay smart ass," he chuckled with a bigger grin, "if I bought some, would you eat it?"

I bit my lip and thought about it. Then I said, "well...yes but...I really don't need any...so don't waste any money on me."

"Waste?" He frowned at me and shook his head as he brushed back a strand of my hair behind me ear, "Oh hun...I can tell you have been mistreated in this life. You go on and take your break."

He was smiling again in a secret way and I quickly got away from him and put in the code for the stairway. I escaped the floor and went to the stairs where he couldn't see me any longer. I had to remember how to breathe in that moment. I had to escape his intensity. I kept replaying in my head that moment and wondered how in he'll did this guy see past my mask for even a moment?
