I sat in the middle row of Mrs.Parkers English class staring at the clock counting the seconds till I could get out of this prison, adults call school. At any other high school in this area when us students heard the glorious bell ring one last time for this school year people would jump off desk, and run down hallways throwing papers through air, as couples kissed and everyone flooded out the doors like one big ocean full of happiness and relief. But, that's not what happens here at St.John's. This is what my parent's call a well grounded and amazing learning place wonderful for them. Horrible for me. Every student walks around like they are dead and theirs no fun. It's work and religion, work and religion for 182 days. I let out a small breath as I felt the hot sun beat down on my pale skin I let my mind fill with the events from this morning.
*Flash back*
I grabbed water from the fridge and my bag running towards the door. "Mom I'm leaving for school". I yelled then quickly shut the door as fast as I could, not wanting her to come down and criticize me. I jumped in the passenger seat of Lilly's Honda interrupting the conversation her and Maddie were having. I turned down the music as we started out on the road. "Last day of hell here we come baby!" Madison screamed in my ear kissing my cheek and messing up my hair. I let a small laugh escape my lips and then turned and looked at Lilly. "You know I like us way better this way than us at church or at school. I mean come on do you guys see what we look like half of the time we're with our parents or around teachers. Something needs to change Kris."She said taking her gaze from the road to look at me . "It's life." I said not taking my gaze off of the road. "C'mon Krissy, what do you say we change things up a little just for the summer?" Madison said putting her head between mine and Lilly's. I laughed."Like that will ever happen. What is it gonna have it's own name too?" I chuckled. "Yeah" Lilly chirped in. " Operation Get A Life" Lilly said sporting the most menacing smirk she's ever sported before. She put the car into park and together we walked into the gates of hell for one last time this year.
*End of flash back*
Through all the things running through my head only those 3 words and that expression on her face caught my attention time and time again. I couldn't help but to laugh at the thought of my life getting interesting or my mother even letting me have freedom for the summer."Miss Keller." I looked up into the stone cold eyes of Mrs. Parker as she slapped the ruler down on my desk. "Yes ma'am" I said kindly sitting up. "Miss Keller what year?" *the sound of the moses of teenagers in school* . The bell saved my ass once again. I grabbed my bag as everyone around me did the same and rushed out of the door not waiting to spend one more second in this dump.
"I'll catch you later Mrs. Parker have a great summer" I said walking past the middle aged lady that smelt like cigarettes and cats towards the exit of the class room.
I pushed my way through the busy hallway and stepped foot on the hot ground looking around I finally spotted him. I ran up behind him dropping my bag in the grass and jumping on his back. "Schools out" I squealed in his ear as he spun around before I let my feet touch the groundagain.
"Hey crazy" Drew said giving me a small annoying smirk.
"Hello stranger." I replied picking up my bag then putting my arm around his waist as he put his around my shoulders.
"It's finally over Kris. It's finally over. OMG! I'M FREE FROM THIS BITCH!!" Drew said letting go running down the steps towards the parking lot. I laughed as I caught up with him and Madison.
I leaned up against the side of Maddie's car as we waited for Lil and Jace.
Soon after they arrived with smiles on their faces and laughter filling the air. "Movies bitch!" Madison jumped me from behind hanging on my back. She then jumped right off.Sitting on the hood of the car.
