Introduction-
It all started with small outbreaks of violence; an assault here, a violent incident in a hospital there, looting and small scale riots everywhere.
Shortly after this began the media were flooding the newspapers, magazines, morning talk shows, blogs, etc. The reports were all the same; the dead are coming back to life and are eating the flesh of the living. In general all the news reports were the exact same, just in a different locale, just trying to make each new report more "in depth" than the last. This normally meant over-describing the events whilst using more "scientific" terms.
Among the backlog of non-informative news reports there were a few who questioned the reasoning for why the whole thing was going on. Haphazard explanations ranged from the psychological to the biological, acts of terror to acts of a vengeful God. All the explanations were poorly thought out, more desperate ranting than actual possibilities. A lot of the Book of Revelation, Old Testament God stuff [I'd advise you to not believe any of them].
Evacuations were ordered and FEMA camps were set up; people panicked. Police and military units set up blockades and quarantine zones as looting and rioting ran as rampant as the dead; people died. Congested highways and overcrowded hospitals became mass graves of fire, flame, and rubble; cohesive society collapsed within 72 hours, people got back up. No police, no government, no military; people began to turn on each other for what supplies remained among the rubble, the dead began to eat the living and the dead outnumbered the living!
And thus was the zombie apocalypse.
