Tia had obsessed over her timer for as long as she could remember. When she was 11 she turned down a boy she had a crush on so that she could stay faithful to her future soulmate. She spent her useless, boring times with thoughts and ideas for the time they would spend. How she wouldn't be bored after she met him.

It was August 8th, 2016. 10 days away from the first day of freshman year. It was also 10 days away from her destined meeting with her soulmate. It was written in fate.

She waited and yearned for this day to come. She bought new clothes and makeup just for the occasion. Her excitement was built up in her like a dam getting ready to burst. The 10 days were like torture, waiting and waiting.

Then the day came.

It was 6:00AM and Tia woke up and slapped her alarm. After primping herself to look as presentable as possible she arrived at school.

The whole day was torment. Until 2:00. Waiting for the timer, Tia was a bit too excited. Was this person on her bus? Were they sitting around her and she just couldn't see them?

Then there was the shriek of tires.

And a bloodcurdling scream.

So loud it could be heard from in the building, the students were shocked. It came from the parking lot.

Tia didn't even look at the clock on her arm as she ran outside to see what was going on, along with plenty of other students and teachers. She ran in her boots to the site of the impact, where a woman was panicking and crying and rambling endlessly, and the twisted body of a boy lay on the asphalt.
