I sat in the front seat of my moms Volvo, with my arms crossed over my chest, looking out the window as the car came to a halt. "You're gonna have fun sweetie." My mother said. She was dropping me off at a summer camp that I didn't want to go to. I was 16 years old, it was 1989. I didn't understand why she was making me go. I could only assume it was because her and my father were going through a divorce and didn't want me around meanwhile. I hugged and kissed my mother then picked up my bags walking toward my cabin. "Hi." I heard a soft voice say as I walked in. "I'm Lainie," she said sticking out her hand to shake mine, "Lainie Dimond." She had a huge smile. I took her hand and shook it, "Serendipity." I said back putting my bags down. "That's beautiful." She smiled pushing her hair back behind her ears. "Common! I'll introduce you to Bobby, Shelly, and Joel!" She said taking my hand and dragging me out of the door. She was very upbeat and chipper. That was a change of pace for me, my house was always filled with screaming from my parents. She introduced me to Bobby, who was her boyfriend, Joel, who was her ex boyfriend and one of Bobby's best friends, and Shelly, who was Bobby's ex girlfriend but Lainie's best friend. "Wow you guys sure get around a lot huh?" I said. They all laughed, "God Dinger is gonna like you!" Bobby said, "He's getting his cast off today. He comes tomorrow. I can't wait to introduce you to him."
