Chapter 3-
I run out of the hospital room and down the fluorescent lit hallway. I need to catch up with Heath. He was ordered by the doctor to stay an extra couple of days so they could watch him and see if he healed well. But of course the hard headed Heath believed that if, and only if he wasn't bleeding out, he would be fine. I pass by the waiting room, where Heaths parent sit."Lucy! Lucy!" Heaths mom shouts. I turn back around, making my way to the room.
She sits there with a frantic look on her face. She has bags under her eyes, reflecting the hours of sleep she was missing out on. Her husband looks like he is ready to fall into a deep slumber. You can tell the only reason he is awake is because she is gripping his hand so tight. His usual color tinted skin, has gone pale.
I walk up to her, although I wish I acted like I had never heard her call my name. I always tried to make her like me and I never actually did anything to upset her, but I guess sometimes you have to accept the fact that not everyone will like you.
"How is Heath?" She says, her eyebrows knitting together.
I shuffle my feet not daring to make eye contact. "Well you see.." I freeze. I could not tell her that he ran away. She would freak out for sure, but why would I lie for him when he was in such a bad condition. If anything happened to him, I would blame myself.
"He actually left. I told him to stay because he isn't stable enough to leave just yet. That's why I was in such a hurry." I say in a rush, watching her expression change from what seemed to be shock, and than to anger.
Her face goes pale and she stands up in a rush, yanking her husband up.
"I knew you were no good! He would have never been put in this position if it weren't for you!" She says with a look of disgust. She pushes past me, hurriedly walking out the room.
Her husband stays behind, standing in front of me. " I hope you know she doesn't mean what she said. Everything just happened so quick and she is just worried for Heath. I think you are perfect for my son." He says smiling and turning to follow his wife.
I stand, left in utter disbelief.
