EVAN
It's still class hours but Mr. Gilmore told me to go home to pack. It's September 10 today so I'm going to that school in two days.
I don't know where my feet are taking me. I should've called Dad to fetch me at school but I didn't. I need to think and dad's still at work, I don't want to disturb him.
My dad is a doctor. He's quite famous also.
I stopped walking in front of an abandoned house. It's quite big. I know this place. It's just a few minutes away from the hospital my dad's working on.
I don't know why but I opened the door. I always wanted to do this but I never had the chance.
The only light here's coming from the quite covered windows.
"I have been waiting for you." Someone said behind me. I turned around and saw darkness.
"Who are you?" I shouted. "Show yourself!"
"Hmm. I would love to. But are you sure you want to see me?" The voice said.
I didn't answer and it showed itself.
It's a black giant spider. I started shaking and it's very hard to breathe.
"Hmm. Afraid, aren't you?" The spider said. It's malfunctioned face smiled, or what I guessed it is.
"What do you want?" I asked, still shaking.
"Oh nothing. I just want you and your siblings to suffer." The spider said, circling me. I can't move.
"I don't have siblings." I said quickly.
"Oh yes you do." It said. "Enough chitchat. I will kill you now."
The spider started coming closer.
"Arachne.." I muttered.
"Very good." She said. "You're just like them, smart."
I can't move or speak anymore. I was afraid of spiders ever since I cannot remember. And now, this giant spider, probably the biggest spider ever lived, is going to kill me.
"Mom, whoever you are. Please. Help me."

"Evan! Evan!" I heard Dad's voice call me. I opened my eyes and saw my dad's worried face.
"Oh thank gods you're awake!" He said and hugged me tight.
"W-what happened Dad?" I asked as soon as he let go of me.
He shook his head. "I don't know. Nobody knows. I was on my way to your school and I saw you outside this abandoned house."
I looked at the abandoned house. Is that spider, Arachne still there? What if she suddenly goes out?
"No, Evan. She won't. Do not be afraid. I threw her to Tartarus."
I looked around to see someone else talking to me. It's only me and dad outside the abandoned house. Was I imagining things?
"No."
The voice said again. It's talking in my head. It belongs to a woman.
"Son? What's wrong?" Dad asked.
"Dad. Let's go home first." I said. He nodded.
When we got home, we sat down at my bedroom. I gave him the envelope Mr. Gilmore gave me.
"Mr. Gilmore, our principal gave me that." I said.
He closed his eyes for a moment and looked at me.
"Would you go?" He asked.
"I don't know. Dad, w-whos my mom?" I asked.
He looked down. "I cannot tell you. You should find that that yourself." He said.
"Why?"
"Those are the rules." He said. "Your mom told me that before you were born. You would know when you go to that school."
"Did she really abandon us?" I asked.
He looked at me again. "It must be done. The Olympians are not allowed to live with us, mere mortals. Surely you know that."
I nodded.
He smiled. "You are definitely your mother's son." He said and walked out the door, leaving me confused.
