Chapter 23

~Iris~

I woke to Zoe shaking me.

"Iris wake up. They want you." she said

I sat up and looked at Jake's dad who was standing there waiting. I stood up and walked over to the door.

"What do you want?" I asked when he unlocked the door to grab me

He didn't answer, he just led me down a white hallway, like the ones you find in hospitals. We stopped at a room and went inside.

"What's that?" I asked looking at some dark purple liquid in a syringe on the table beside a metal table with buckles on either side.

"Good job Tom, now put him on the metal table please." said John coming in behind the shadows

(AN: I never realized I didn't give Jake's dad a name, well it's Tom :] )

Tom lifted me up onto the table and strapped me down.

"What's going on?" I asked confused

John came over with the syringe and smiled, "Don't worry you're just gonna feel a little pinch."

Tom tied a rubber band around my arm and John stuck the syringe into my arm. There was just a prick, but then it became intense, like fire.

"What do you feel?" asked John pulling out the needle

I cried out in pain. It felt like my body was on fire. I couldn't bare it, I was panting trying to keep control, but I let out another scream again. I closed my eyes tight, it felt like I was going to die.

"Come on let's go." said Tom pulling me up and dragging me across the floor to the cell

I clutched my arm in pain, the fire died down from the other parts of my body, but the fire continued in my arm. Tom threw me into the cave and locked the door.

Zoe rushed to my side, "Oh mou Théa! What happened?"

"They...gave me....some purple liquid....in a syringe." I choked out

"Oh no." she looked up at Beau, "They're doing the same thing to him."

"What?" I asked my eyes darting between the two of them

"They're making you weaker by slowly draining your power. Not enough to make you human, but just enough to make you weak." explained Beau

"They can do that?" I asked as the fire died down and I started to breath normally

Zoe nodded, "Yea. It hurts because they're draining part of your life force."

I nodded, "So they want to make us weak so we can't get away using our powers?"

Zoe nodded again, "Yea."

I groaned and laid my head back, "This sucks."

"I know, but we just got to hang out until the new moon. Then it ends."

"You're just giving up?" I asked her sitting up

She shrugged, "What else can we do?"

"Hope." I said

Beau snorted, "Our hope was gone when they brought you here."

I groaned, "Just because it seems impossible, doesn't mean it is. If we stick together we can do anything."

Beau raised his eyebrows, "Are you sure you're not a girl. That was a pretty girly speech."

I rolled my eyes, "I'm serious. If we work together we can do anything. Beau what can you still do?"
