My Heart

Marcus's P.O.V.

The bright sun hit my face and I began to feel a rustling in the bed. I slowly began to open my eyes as I was hit with the blinding light. Carey looked so peaceful as I brushed away the hair from her face. I could look at the face all day, but everything began to fade.

I opened my eyes and realized I was in my room. Alone... I shook the thought from my head as I remembered that Ben was sleeping in my guest room. I'm not alone, I have Ben and Brighton.

I decided to get out of bed to go check on Brighton. I debated on whether or not to put on my robe, but I ultimately decided that I was too lazy to and that Ben has already seen me in my underwear trillions of times. It's just what happens when you live on a bus for quite some time.

I walked down the hall and into the nursery. Ben was sitting in the rocking chair, feeding Brighton.

"Morning," he said in a soft voice.

"You didn't have to do this for me, Ben. I would've gotten up with him and let you sleep in," I said, noticing the dark circles under his eyes.

"You needed your rest," Ben said, smiling at me. I walked over and sat on the floor right in front of him. I put my hand up to my son's cheek. His body heat mixed with mine and gave me feeling of serenity, something that was going to be very hard to find for a while.

"Well, I'll go make breakfast then," I said, standing up and walking downstairs. As soon as I left the room, the depression came back. How the fuck am I going to make in once Ben leaves.

That thought hit me like a brick wall. I felt this sharp pain in my chest. Everything became blurry as I saw a figure run over to me.

"Marcus!" it screamed as I blacked out.

Ben's P.O.V.

I put the baby in a bassinet as I ran to grab a phone and call for an ambulance. Afterwards, I called Carey's parents to come get the baby. I ran over to Marcus. He's still breathing, that's a good sign.

In a matter of minutes, the ambulance was here to get Marcus. I couldn't ride in the ambulance with Marcus. The baby was still with me.

About ten minutes after the ambulance had departed, Carey's parents were here. They took Brighton without a question, and I was on my way. God, I hope Marcus is okay... He needs to be okay...

~Time warp to hospital~

I bolted through the doors of the emergency room. There was literally nothing going on. I calmed my nerves... Maybe Marcus is ok. I calmly walked up to the woman at the desk.

"Excuse me ma'm, do you know where I can find Marcus Mumford?" I asked. She pointed to a hallway. Aw fuck... I hate hospitals...

~~~~~A/N~~~~~
And cliffhanger!! Sorry for such a long wait for an update just for it to turn out to be a short and shitty one. I have been overwhelmed lately, and the one thing I wanted to do the most, I kept having to push off. I found this bit of time to write and wrote this for you guys! Anyway, I'm planning on doing something that I have yet to read in a Mumford-based fanfic. Smut people! Big time SMUT!
Well, Mumford on!
