"Where are we going and why back into the city?" I asked the officer. I didn't like where this was going but if he thought I was a terrorist then he would have slammed me to the ground or shot me by now.

"I really don't know if I'm supposed to tell you this or not but the president has called in the best of the best soldiers to dispose of the terrorists and you're one of them. He tried contacting you but you had already left your house to evacuate the city." I sighed not knowing what was going to become of me and disappointed that I had to be in the middle of world war three.

He led me into a damaged apartment building. There was still a roof and four walls but the were dozens of drafts coming through holes in the walls and there wasn't even a front door to the building, only a large hole blasted through the front. I followed the officer upstairs about three floors to a fairly decent room. Inside was the war room were the military made their strategic plans.

There were people around a table in the middle of the room from different parts of the Armed Forces ranging from the Navy to the Air Force. In the corner of the room were ten Marines that looked ready to kill for survival. They must be the other best of the bests that the officer talked about. I nodded to them in greetings but all I got back were faces of disgust.

Another Marine  ran from a corner on the other side of the room and stood in salute. I rolled my eyes. " Why are you saluting?" The Marine let his arm go loose. "Well I assumed that since we'll be working together and since I'm a Private  and you're a general that I should be respectful."

"Well don't bother. I might just say no." I'm thinking that he took that as an order because he saluted again and he ended speaking to me with a yes sir.

I waited for awhile for them to tell me what I was supposed to do. I tried to get to know the other Marines but some of them just grunted and others walked away.

I did get to know one of them though. His name was Corporal Collins or aka Corporal Courageous he was the heavy artillery of the group. He told me many stories of how he became a soldier of the U.S. Military.  He said he started off as a bar guard making sure nobody started a fight in his bar or he'd put them in the hospital with many broken bones. He also said that he through a guy off a bridge once almost killing the guy. He was recruited when the president found papers on him of how many charges were against him. The president made a deal with him that if he joined the Special OPs that all of the charges would disappear.

Collins had told me about the other Marines also, well five of them anyway. There was the one I had met earlier. His name was John Marsh, the one who always followed the commands. He wanted to be in this mission so bad that he practically begged the president to let him join thinking that it would make him a better soldier.

Then there was Michael Daniels, the sharpshooter, he set the record of the furthest kill of five thousand meters
assassinating four of the most dangerous terrorists in the world.

There was also Han Stevens. He worked for the bomb squad until he started doing missions for the president.

Last of all were Mike and Chris O'Connors also known as the Twisted Twins.  In Vietnam they raided a camp killing over a twenty enemies each with only desert eagles and Swiss Army knives.

I was becoming really impatient with the meeting going on. Did they want my help or not? I pushed the thoughts away when I saw the president walk through the door.

The president and I had been friends since we were teenagers. When we got older I helped him out with his campaign and after he was elected I joined the Army. After the war, I had received an award and the retired with a bullet wounded leg.

I hope that never happens again.
