Chapter 11 - Girlfriends

I'm in Antarctica...freezing, in my pyjamas. Then, I see a giant polar bear running towards me, then I wake up. All of my covers are on the ground and Ellie is playing Boy and Bear on her turntable. She is on her computer, clicking away, probably on Twitter, then she looks over at me.

"Morning Crystal." She says with a small smile. I look over, then at her turntable. "Your music and my sheets gave me such a strange dream. I was in the middle of Antarctica and then a bear MULLED ME! Stupid Boy and Bear." I say. Pulling up my galaxy comforter and making my bed, I pull out some clothes and slide them on. I wear a tee shirt that looks like Kagamine Rin's uniform, white skinny jeans, a pair of yellow converse and a black beanie.

"Wanna go get Mcdonalds?"

"Sure! Just let me finish this song."

"Ellie! This is the worst song on the album though! Nobody cares about Arrow Flight."

"WhAt?! CRYSTAL! THAT IS THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM!"

"Surrrrrrreeeee. The best song on this album is Southern Sun. Learn your music."

"ShUT uP CrYStaL!" Ellies yells, throwing a pillow at me, then laughing. I grab my Shane Dawson varsity jacket and walkman and head out. When I go down the steps and head for the door, Ms. Roberts stops me. "Crystal?" She says, looking for something in her purse. I turn around and walk to her desk.

"Yeah?" I ask. It looks like she found what she was looking for.

"When you go to Mcdonalds, could you get me a coffee?" She asks. Ms. Roberts is very sweet. She knows that I hate the food they make at the adoption centre so I always go out. I smile as she hands me 10 pounds. "Do you want anything in it?" I ask. "No. Just black coffee." She smiles back. I nod and walk out, sticking the money in my pocket.

Ellie walks out of the adoption centre soon after me, wearing a Starbucks jumper, black, ripped skinny jeans, vans, square sunglasses, and a DOPE beanie. "Ready?" She asks. I plug in my headphones to my walkman and hit play. Looking over at her from my walkman, I smile and nod. Then we begin to walk.

When we get to Mcdonalds, I get a breakfast sandwich for both of us and a coffee for Ms. Roberts. "3 pounds please." The cashier says, impatiently. I look into my wallet and find a 5. Pulling out the money, I pay for her coffee and walk back to the adoption centre. Once we get there, I hand Ms. Roberts her drink and her 10 pounds.

"You didn't use the money?"

"I didn't have to."

"Why?"

"Because I had enough money to do it myself."

Ms. Roberts smiles and adds sugar and her own creamer to the coffee. "Thank you Crystal." She says. I nod and walk upstairs with Ellie. We eat our sandwiches and after Ellie swallows, she asks if it Sunday. "Yesh." I say with some food in my mouth, covering it with my hand. She nods and we finish our food. "I have to do some school work. How about you?" She asks. "I don't have anything to do for school. I'm gonna go see Shannon today. She is in London for a few months for a tour with Tyler. I think Alex, Johnnie, Bryan, and Robbie are there too." I reply, finishing my sandwich.

"Where is it?"

"Somewhere down in battery park." I say, quoting the song Santa Monica Dream by Angus and Julia Stone.

"Shut up. Tell me where."

"Somewhere in London, I dunno where though. Shannon is picking me up."

"Oh, okay." She says taking her last bite of breakfast sandwich.

As I finish Chapter 13 of It's Kind Of A Funny Story, my phone rings. Picking up my phone, I see that it is Shannon. I slide my finger across the screen and hold the phone up to my ear.

"AYEEEEE!"

"Hey Crystal, we're outside the building. Don't forget your wallet."

"K, see you in a few seconds." I reply and hang up the phone. Grabbing my Shane Dawson jacket, I stuff my backpack purse thing with gum, my phone, money, a hat, and other things. Ellie turns her head from her school work and cocks her head.

"Are you leaving?" She asks. I nod. "Well, then....kiss me." She says. My head shoots up from my bag and I can feel my face heat up. She giggles and I calm down. I walk over to her and peck her on the cheek.

"You wouldn't kiss your girlfriend like that, would you?"

"I'm your girlfriend?"

"Well..." She says with a smirk. "Would you, have the honour, to be my G-I-R-L," She spells girl slowly. "F R I E N D?" She spells faster. My face lights up like a christmas tree and I can't help but smile from ear to ear. I nod and kiss Ellie on the lips quickly.

"Now that is a better kiss. You have to practice."

"Okay." And with that, I walked down stairs, out the door, into Tyler's car, and drive away.
