After a few minutes of running checklists and promising to visit , the parents stepped back as the train left the platform.
Draco pulled Hermione into a one armed hug, raising his hand to wave at the twins who were leaning out of the retreating train. Looking around at the scene before him, Draco was hit by just how much his life had changed in the past years.
Since childhood, he had always been told that in the world, only the dark and powerful could survive. Subsequently, he had spent his entire student life striving to attain that position of power, never realising that it was of little importance. He had never known love, never known what a real home was like, and so he had never tried to obtain it. Only now did he realise the stupidity of his actions, and regret ever putting his faith in the radical ideas of someone who was so obviously out of his mind.
Now, seeing Harry, who, despite the streaks of silver in his hair was the charming person he had been in school, discussing something intently with Ron, ginny and Hermione, all of whom had aged with grace, draco knew that he had finally found home.
