Selva's POV:
I told Josh about everything, he was as puzzled as I was, yet promised to keep everything a secret. He informed me that the Taylors owned Howl, a big supermarket, or the only supermarket in town. I then remembered Eric's dad, Chad Taylor, saying he needed help at the store.
I slipped on my grey jeans, my black V color shirt and my black shoes with a dark blue hoodie. Clouds were lurking in the sky, threatening a heavy rain and announcing a cold winter's arrival.
I took my back bag and headed down stairs for breakfast. For once I couldn't get to school fast enough, today I will have my answers.
I sat on the kitchen counter as uncle Jimmy gave me a plate of pancakes and a cup of orange juice. I started eating just when Josh came down.
"Oh, hey cousin," he greeted. "congratulations, by the way."
I gave him a puzzled look. "For what?"
"Winning the loner of the year award." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Really Josh? I thought to myself.
"Thank you." I said with a fake smile. " I am so glad I won this year too!""That's enough you two." Uncle Jimmy interrupted. " Have your breakfast we're leaving in ten. "
"Actually," Josh started, " I already have a ride."
" With who?" I asked. For answer, a horn was heard out side. He peeked from the window, then picked up his back bag.
"I have to go, she's here." He announced before walking out of the house.
"She?" I mumbled to myself as I got up to see who his ride is.
It was none other than miss Audrey Johns. Of course, he's probably thinking about asking her out, she is his type after all. For some reason, I don't trust her. It's not because of what Eric said, even though it doesn't help her cause. It's not because she's the barbie of the school, even though I don't like barbies. I just always get the feeling she's hiding something, something bad.
I push those thoughts to the back of my head as uncle Jimmy and I drive to school. I had a important task today and I have to focus on it. I hope it all goes well.
"So," Uncle Jimmy started pulling out of my own world. "You've been handing out with the Taylors, are they your friends?"
I look at him curiously, trying to read his face, trying to find out what he's thinking, but I came back empty handed. He has long since mastered the poker face.
"Yeah, I guess." I answered still looking at him. He had both hands on the wheel, his eyes concentrated on the road.
"Luke, I think his name is." He said still not meeting my eyes.
"Luka." I corrected.
"Yeah, Luka." He said. " He's in my class."
He stayed silent for a while before speaking again. " You should stay away from them, they look like trouble."
I didn't know what to say, how to answer, so I stayed quiet. I realized then he knows about them, but I wasn't going to let him know I know anything just yet.
We parted ways upon walking in the school. I saw Audry and Josh talking by the lockers, I decided to ignore them, especially when she smirked at me. I went to my locker and started putting some textbooks in it. After a while Eric came saying good morning, which I returned with a small smile. He was accompanied by his cousin, who wouldn't even look at me. Ignoring it is!
"So your uncle is a teacher?" Eric asked as the three of us started walking in the hallway.
"Yup." I said.
"I should watch myself around you then." He said jokingly.
"Why? Are you in one of his classes?" I asked.
"No, but Luka is." He answered.
"Oh, in that case you don't need to watch yourself. He already doesn't like him, neither do I."
"What? Why?" Luka finally said.
"Why not?" I answered him, making it sound like the most obvious thing in the world.
He narrows his eyes at me.
We arrive to class, and before walking in, I stop Eric to talk to him.
"Can you wait for me at lunch hour?" I asked him with a smile.
"Sure." He said hesitantly.
"Cool. Thanks."
We walked in the class, but just before we did so, I saw Luka give me a dark look. What the ...
The morning was pretty boring as usual. I was impatient for lunch hour to arrive. I decided to ask Eric because I trusted him the most.
The lunch bell rung and I went outside the classroom to wait for Eric. I only waited for few moments before he arrived.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" He asked right away.
"I wanted to talk about my father." I stated looking at some of the students to make sure no one heard.
"Your father?" He asked trying to sound confused and ignorant, but I didn't fall for it.
"Don't pretend that you don't know," I said a bit louder than necessary, luckily the hall was now empty. " I know you do, and I know about you, that you can do stuff no one else can. I know when you shift you shift to a grey wolf. But I don't care about your werewolf and your pack stuff. I want to know about my father."
"Why don't you ask your uncle?" A voice said from behind me. I didn't bother to look, I knew who it was. He came to stand next to Eric, then stared in my eyes with his blue ones. I felt my heart racing and the world blurred out a bit around me. Why did that happen every time? With a bit of effort I managed to look away.
" Because I'd rather hear it trough your sweet voice, Luka." I said sweetly yet sarcasm was dripping from my lips. "Isn't it obvious? He denies knowing anything about him. But with that question, you confirmed the fact that you know something, which is more than I know anyways."
"Listen, Selva..." Eric started.
"We'll talk to our Alpha and let you know." Luka cut him of.
I was really surprised by his cooperation, so I just nodded.
The afternoon past just like the morning did. This time I was eager to know the Alpha's answer. I made few steps outside my classroom when Luka found me.
"He's waiting for you at the pack house." He said. "He's gonna give you your answers."
