DAY 1 - ARRIVAL AT HOTEL HAWAII
The glass doors slid open, and I walked in. People in flowery clothes and flip flops wandered around, and attendants and bellmen helped newcomers, like us. All of the staff wore light blue shirts with flowers, and a name tag pinned on their heart. Lizzie let go of my hand and ran to the elevator. I sniffed the air, breathing in the scent of wildflowers and the ocean. I smiled.
We were finally in Hawaii.
"Come on Penny, we're going up to the rooms." Mom motioned me over to the elevator and I followed. Once Dad, Mom, Lizzie and I had crammed our luggage in the elevator, the bellman included, the doors closed and we started going up. Once at the 5th floor, we came out and went to the end of the hallway. Dad swiped his card and opened the door. Lizzie ran in next, squealing. I couldn't blame her, she was only four. Mum went in, and gasped. As I entered, I found out why.
The place was enormous. ENORMOUS. There were at least seven rooms in this master suite. Everthing was a light colour, which made the atmosphere happy and relaxed. The glass doors were partially opened, letting in a warm breeze from the ocean. The white curtains swayed in the breeze. My mouth was practically hanging on the floor. There were couches and glass tables, a kitchen, and even a mini-bar. A mini-bar. This was like the suite in Las Vegas in The Hangover, except 10 times more luxurious. "Dad, how much did you pay for this? Actually nevermind, spare me the shock of knowing."
I heard him laugh. "Let's just say that work helped us get here."
Of course it did. Dad owned a huge company, and he worked very hard and earned a lot of money. Therefore we were able to go on this trip.
As Mom was ranting on about the beauty of this place, I decided to explore the suites. I turned to the left, went down some steps, and saw two huge double doors, which probably led to the master bedroom. This was probably Mom and Dad's room. Darn, it was so nice.
"Oh Jason, our room is so nice! Look at the size of this!" Mom exclaimed from the other side of the apartment.
Oh. I guess this was my room, then.
Holy crap.
The bed was king-sized. Huge fluffy pillows littered the surface. Well, in a nice way. Flower petals were sprinkled on the covers. It was beautiful. I put down my suitcase and put my purse on a large dresser with a mirror. I walked up some steps (yes, in my room), and entered a hallway full of mirrors. It led to the bathroom.
Sorry, I should say the spa.
The size of the bathroom was 3/4 of the size of my room, and the size of my room was about half the size of the first floor of our house back home. Like how do these maids clean everything in an hour?!
I wandered in shyly, peeking around the corner. God, did I ever get the shock of my life.
There was a pool.
Inside my bathroom.
A pool.
It wasn't teensy, but it wasn't huge, like a regular pool. It was a bit bigger than my king-size bed. There were mosaics around the edge, and the light sparkled off the shiny tiles. I dropped to the floor, and sat there, dumbfounded, with my legs spread out and my hands lying on the floor loosely.
Mom, Lizzie, and Dad came in 3 minutes later. "Penny has a pool!" Lizzie declared. When I didn't answer, Lizzie shook my shoulder with her small hand. I never took my gaze off the floor. "Penny?" she whispered.
"Penny, what's wrong?" demanded my mother.
When it finally occured in my brain that people were talking to me, I pointed at the pool like an idiot. "I have a pool in my bathroom," I told them.
