This is my first attempt at writing a fanfic, so please leave any comments, good or bad. I'm not the greatest writer but I decided to test myself to see what I could do and this is what I got so far.

And also, I do Not own anything. All charatcers and whatever else may be related to Once Upon A Time belongs to the proper owners.

Emma Swan moved to Storybrooke recently, looking for a new start. Her hectic Boston life was just not cutting it anymore.

Emma decided it was a good idea to move in with her mother and father, Mary Margret and David. Mary Margret was more than thrilled to have Emma come and live with them while Emma took time to find her own apartment.

Storybrooke was an interesting, very small town to Emma. Emma had never actually been to Storybrooke since her parents moved there. It was defiantly different from all the people and the loud rush of the people that Boston had to offer. It would take some getting use too.

"Hey Mom, where's my red leather jacket? I want to run over to Granny's and get some hot cocoa before dinner." Emma yells as she searches her bedroom high and low for her jacket.

There was no response from Mary Margret, who was cooking dinner downstairs. Emma could her mom stirring around in the kitchen as she walked down the stairs.

"Mom, have you seen my jacket?" Emma says again as she reaches the bottom of the stairs.

"Oh, yes, its on the back of the couch, honey." Says Mary Margret.

"Thanks mom. I'm going down to Granny's to get a cup of cocoa before dinner." Emma says as she's putting on her jacket.

Mary Margret looks up at Emma.

"Are you sure you don't want to make you some?"

"No thanks, that's alright." Emma Says. "I could use some fresh air, and besides, you're busy with dinner. I don't want to bother you." Emma said while walking toward the door.

"Okay" was all Mary Margret said before she heard the click of the door as Emma left the apartment.

15 Minutes later at Granny's

Emma was sitting on a stool at the counter when she heard the bell on the door ring. Emma turned her head to see a tall, blonde woman.

The woman walks over to the counter and stands beside Emma.

"Hey Ruby, is my order ready yet?" asks the blonde woman.

"Let me check on that. Give me two minutes." Ruby says while walking toward the pick up window.

The woman turned toward Emma's direction and introduced herself.

"I've never seen you in town before. You must be new. I'm Kathryn by the way." She says while holding a hand out to Emma.

Emma shakes Kathryn's hand.

"Emma, Emma Swan. I just moved here from Boston a few days ago." Emma says.

"That would explain why I've never noticed you walking around town." Says Kathryn.

"That would be it." Emma says with a slight laugh.

"I have an idea. Why don't you come over to my girlfriend and I's house for dinner? Let's say, this Friday?" Kathryn asks with a raised brow.

Emma looks down at her cocoa and then back up at Kathryn.

With a wide smile, Emma kindly accepts the invite while nodding her head up and down.

"Yeah? Okay great! I'll see you Friday night at 8 sharp. Regina hates it when people are late. It's one of her pet peeves..." Kathryn says with a laugh.

"...Just make sure you're on time. It's the big house at the end of the street. You can't miss it. See you later!" Kathryn says while heading for the door with her food in hand.

"Bye." Emma says while she watched Kathryn leave Granny's.

2 Days Later -Friday Night, 8 O'clock

Emma turns to face the huge house that stands before her. She shakes her head because of how ridiculously big and beautiful the house is.

"Wow! Kathryn wasn't kidding when she said you can't miss it." Emma says to herself while standing at the beginning of the walkway.

Emma takes a deep breath before walking up the rest of the walkway.

Emma never was the greatest at making friends. She finds it hard to trust people after all the issues she's faced in her life.

She's nervous. More nervous than she thought she would be.

When Emma finally reaches the door, she hesitates to knock. Her nerves seem to be getting the best of her. She pulls her hand away from the door for a moment and takes another deep breath.

After about a minute of standing face to face with the door, she finally worked up enough courage to knock.

As Emma stands at the door waiting, she hears high heels clicking on the floor on the other side of the door.

The door clicks open and Emma's eyes follow from the floor to a pair of black heels, up to a very well dressed dark haired woman.

The woman spoke first.

"Hello! You must be Emma!?"

Emma's nerves are starting to get the best of her again.

Emma's voice hitches in her throat and before she can say hello back, the dark haired woman starts to talk.

Holding out a hand to Emma the woman introduces herself.

"I'm Regina Mills."
