The Other Half
I'll let you in on a secret of mine.
I have a twin sister. Pretty normal stuff right?
Same age; same appearance; same birthday (just an hour apart);same almost everything.
Her name is Veronica Marshals.
Such a beautiful name don't you think?
Derived from a northern temperate regional herbaceous plant with narrow pointed stems and purple or blue spiked flowers. Of course, (as much as I beg to differ), the reason for the choice of name is purely of religious background. It is said that a woman of Jerusalem offered her head cloth to Christ on the way to cavalry, to wipe the blood and sweat from his face.
Now, don't get me wrong, I admire the both of my parents for being such practicing Christians and I respect all Christians and any other religion out there, but I believe the reason for their difference in treatment between their two daughters is the fact that Veronica (who kept true to her name in my parent eyes) was a saint. A model student; she was president and founder of the ongoing YCY (Young Christian Youth) during high school and to put it simply: the apple of my parents' eyes.
Me on the other hand, you could say that I was Christian by name. It just didnt fall in place with me, thus my search for my true religion. It didnt feel right in my heart.
Back to Veronica, almost 95.9% of you reading this will picture a beautiful, innocent, halo-bearing girl, who when she laughs, it sounds like the angels above are singing. When she smiles, you are left dazzled by the beauty of this smile even moments after she is gone. Skin as white as snow; lips a brilliant shade of ruby red; eyes shaped like perfect almonds;flawless porcelain skin, giving you the impression of extreme fragility.
Unfortunately, I have learned the excutiatingly hard way that looks; as beautiful and legitimate as they may seem; can be deceiving.
Extremely deceiving.
Now how about this for size;
She wants me dead.
Believe me, if I knew why I'd tell you. Trust me on that.
Since I've already begun telling you of my foreboding tale, I might aswell tell you a bit about myself.
My name is Tori Marshals (hey everybody! my name is deprived from anatomical studies and is a ridge of bone and muscle. So awesome.) and I"ve just started college at Witherheist's. For those of you who don't know of Witherheist's, let me assure you it's not for the fainthearted. Normal people you'd expect at a college such as gossiping girls and football playing boys is not what you'll find at Witherheists. Heck, I'd even go out on a limb and say that there aren't any geeks or emos either.
Pure, 100% delinquency is Witherheists.
So why am I there?
Have a guess. Take as long as you need. I'm here all day anyway.
No, don't have a clue? That's fine. Not many people guess right.
I'm here because I've been falsely accused of many things since the beginning of my life; though none as drastic as this. You may find it funny, you may not.
I'm here because my good for nothing evil sister (a bit cliche right?) has accused me of trying to take her life. Funny how it's actually the other way round. I have so many memories giving evidence to this fact in my raddled mind. A mind that has been a witness to so many evil deeds, so many acts of injustice by either Veronica, her minions, my parents even some distant relations living more than 2000 kilometres away. I don't even know most of them but what I do know is that if there were two cliffs and that both Veronica and I are falling to our doom, they'd (without a second thought) rush to Veronica's aid. Pretty sad huh?
